Halb said: Yeah I agree. It was heading into Se7en territory, but then went all silly. Jesus H Christ on a popsicle! Tried watching LOTR live action version but it is so jaw juddering s t that I had to stop. Just like a beautifully garnished cak sandwich, it looks great and as soon as you bite into it, the disgusting bile and bizz seeps out all over your face. Stupid characterisations, ridiculous plot/character changes, changes for changes sake, and moronic lets make everything easy to understand for the MTV generation exposition. PJ crimped out a massive turd when he made this. liv tyler's in it.

Hugo - I'd heard it was directed by Scorsese, was 3D and was up for some Oscars and I'd seen the poster but I really didn't know what it'd be about. In a nutshell, a street urchin lives in a Paris train station keeping the clocks running, works on a clockwork automaton which leads to a story about early cinema. Good for a family film. 7/10

Just watched Pearl Jam 20 celebrating the last 20 years (fairly obviously) of the band Pearl Jam. I think even if I wasn't a fan I would recommend it. Fantastic insight into the music scene in Seattle in the late 80s early 90s and beyond plus lots of other very cool stuff.

Had a cinema day today so watched:
Avengers Assemble - Loved it, totally epic film that didn't seem as long as it actually was. I think it does help if you know a little background for the story sake but it's not essential.
American Pie Reunion - Far far better than expected, wasn't sure if they could keep it funny but it was superbly written. A lot of the jokes really require that you see the others first.
Now going to fall asleep watching Transporter 3 on C4 +1.

Dark Shadows.
Tim Burton's characters are always a bit oddball and wonderful. A movie amusing in places with some funny lines and unexpected moments, but not a patch on the likes of ES or Beetlejuice.

We watched the Spanish film Cell 211 a few days ago. I would highly recommend it - very different from your usual Hollywood formula.

Another convert to Avengers today.
In this general genre, I am more of a Watchmen fan. But all the components of AA come together very nicely, even if Downey Jr gets to hog all the great lines!
Long! Mind you, not quite a drag, but some nice slow pace stuff to keep you paced along....
In a totally different vein:
Rum Diaries - yesterday I got completely immersed in this. Loved every moment!

the woman in black - 2/10 pure pish! Heard good things about this film but it just made me realise why I never watch horrors.
Took to long for anything to happen, predictable "scary" moments and a crap ending.
Not to mention the hoor of a Ghost that was needlessly loud when she screamed, the volume on my tele was up and down like a fecking yo-yo because of her!

It is so f king predicable, christ its painful. It is actually hurting my head it's that s t. kids in movies 99/100 means a s t film. This is no exception.
