Couldn't find the overrated/bad movie thread so I'll stick this here...
Banraku.
Utter pants..trying way too hard to be cool but missed the boat on that one. It seemed to take influences from Kung Foo Hustle, Sin City and kill Bill but the plot was weak, the casting was mostly dire as was the majority of acting.
Kevin McKid showed a different side to his acting ability which I thought was very good. Just his Newcastle/Scottish accent didn't fit.
Avoid.

Been a while since I watched any movies but saw a few recently:
The Muppets - actually better than I thought it would be and brought back a few good memories. We Bought a Zoo - good to watch with the kids on Sunday afternoon. a nice feelgood movie. X-men First Class - not bad at all and as enjoyable as the rest of the series. Underworld: Awakening - not the best of the bunch but good to see Kate Beckinsale in PVC again! The Fighter - Bale is excellent throughout. Decent film IMO but not as enjoyable as Million Dollar Baby.

I wish they would hurry up and announce that Alcatraz is cancelled as well as that is just as bad. And that crappy Dinosaur thing. Fox makes a lot of terrible TV that gets cancelled Have to agree with this. Never was a firefly fan and really didn't like the Serenity film. I was told this morning Alcatraz had been cancelled funnily enough. I didn't mind it myself, also watch Terranova which is very bad.

The Killer Inside Me
Decent film, quite brutal at times. Good cast although at times I struggled to hear what Casey Affleck was saying. 6/10.

Used to dislike it a lot, some of the reason was the same as you. Then I rewatched it recently with my youngest nephew, and I realised it was a much better film than I had previously thought.

The Blob (1988) - the original was very much a product of its time, and so is this. It's full of some very imaginative practical effects, which you know would just be fully replaced by CGI if it was released today. It's made very much with 50's b-movies in mind, so concentrates more on the action than the character development. That said, it does add a bit more background to the origins of the Blob itself and is good fun throughout.
7/10
