The Avengers - Loved it. Didn't take itself seriously (flying aircraft carrier ftw), good action, witty script, good character interaction. It's not a masterpiece of cinema by any stretch but it did what was expected of it. Hulk was great, Iron Man always good value and the Cap and Thor also had their places. Hawkeye and the Black widow were just making up the numbers. I thought the slightly camp villain Loki was pretty good as well.

An enjoyable superhero movie. 8/10

I think you, BSW, are possibly the only person on Pistonheads, who's never contributed anything of note.

Every single post you make, is a little dig in some way or the other.
They are just the ones you notice. If you dont see any humour in them, then so be it.
Out of interest, if you abbrieviate my username, how would you conclude that the three words in it are Blinds Welled Rat? It is not a casual dig as many people abbreviate it similarly, Im just curious
I've seen many people refer to you as it, so I guess I've just copied them.

That scene was pandering to the fanboys at the expense of any right minded adult.

Just because you've never seen one doesn't mean they don't exist.

Haywire - another one I had seen before, a standard agent/assassin character betrayed plot but with a very different feel courtesy of director Steven Soderbergh, imagine a female Bourne with a lower budget and some sex, lies and videotape quirkiness. Refreshing 8/10
Really?

Comically bad, the worst acting I have seen for many a year in my opinion.

2/10 from me frown
you didn't see barbed wire on tv the other night then...

rofl

It stood out because the rest of the film is so grounded in reality isn't it?

It's pure spectacle, nothing more and nothing less.

And when you say "fanboys" I assume you mean "target audience"?

Just seen this now. Agree with the rating 100%.

Bad bits;
Bit long winded at the begining but then I suppose set up movies always are.
He is essential to the plot but I just don't like Thor. I know the term God is open to arguement but you would have thought he could have summonded the lightning a bit more often to help out.
Hawkeye - good character, wrong film. Just looked a bit weedy compared to the rest of the bunch.
Some very 'A-Team' like violence at the end. "Oh look a buildings just dropped on us mere mortals, never mind, lets just dust ourselves off and walk away,"

Good bits;
Hulk. Need a proper movie with him right now.
Ironman. Much better here than in the second of his movies. His quips were back "Nice swing, Point Break,"
Scarlett Johannsson in a jumpsuit.cloud9
Cobie Smoulders in a jumpsuit cloud9
The end battle was terrific. Loved the flying fish monsters.
The villian was a bit camp but nicely evil.
The post credits scene was a laugh. Banner was enjoying it the most.

Best bit...
"Puny God," rofl
Loved the little squeeking noise he makes afterward.

Sum up, wasn't sure at the start but got better and better as it went along. So yes, 8/10.

Just got back from watching skyfall. Really enjoyed this. I didn't like the last 2 but this one felt like it was going back to the way bond should be.

Me too, I'd say 8.5/10

I do need to ring my tailor in the morning though, I do like the cut of his jib.

Savages - I was really looking forward to this purely for the fact that it's an Oliver Stone film but I was gutted when I heard some not so favorable reviews which held me back from seeing it.

Well I watched it tonight and to be honest, it was a decent watch. It does seem to be two films in one. Two blokes and a girl in a mutual love triangle, one bloke grows very strong weed and the other guy is ex military and is the enforcer and they make up one side of the film. They come up against a Mexican cartel which includes Benicio Del Toro and linking them together is John Travolta who is a bent DEA agent. The bits with the love triangle are mainly care free Californian scenes and the cartel stuff show the edgier darker Mexican side. I wont go too much in to the plot but I would say to cast any preconceptions made by the negative reviews aside and give the film a go. it wont be everyones cup of tea but imo it's not as bad as they make out. Notable performances from Travolta and Del Toro towards the end rescued the film for me. If pushed for a rating i'd say a high 6/low 7

ArsE92 and Curtisl - recently I watched both of those movies back to back, Savages and Killer Joe.

Savages - 9/10 imo, nothing is perfect but this sure came damn close. Highly recommend it!

Killer Joe - 8/10, if I didn't know any better I'd think it was a Quentin Tarantino film. It was down right weird, but very enjoyable. When the movie came out on very limited screens, ii recall M. McCoughany (sp?) Was under fire for the character he played and the basic premise of the plot. Some organizatios demanded a NC17 rating. I disagree, I didn't view anything so outrageous it needed a NC17, except maybe the chicken scene hehe
