It was the same with Lost, they spin it out so much it just becomes tedious.
I can see why people get frustrated with Lost (which is brill IMHO) but I think for completely different reasons to Heroes (which i stopped watching early in Season 3.)scratchchin

With Lost its true they've spun out the core storyline over 6 seasons and its very slow burning, perhaps requiring a lot of attention and patience from the viewer. The key mysteries (what is the island? who are the others? etc.) still haven't been answered mid-way through season 5.

With Heroes its totally the opposite...they rush through every storyline, never stick with anything for very long, have frequent unsatisfying resolutions and the characters change their stance week-to-week. Nothing seems dramatic because all the characters' actions have no long-term connsequence or bring their story along. Its the classic "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

I thought season 1 was great because it went somewhere. There was always the feeling of leading up to the big showdown at the end of the first season. From season 2 onwards the writers seemed to have already used all their best ideas and given away most of the mysteries. Its just so erratic and feels like they're reacting and changing the show based on viewing figures rather than weaving an intricate and engaging long-term storyline.

Sylar is a good example. One week he's bad, then he's good, then he's bad again. That would be fine spread over a few years, but he seems to change loyalties every episode (as do others.) Hiro is by far the best character but they always seem to want to separate him from the rest of the cast and the main storyline.

I hasten to add that it may have improved again now as i haven't watched for 6mths, but after all the promises of Season 3 being an improvement on 2, it just failed to deliver for me and I gave up.frown

I can't work out what is going on anymore (read I don't care if they all die)

I blame the writers strike and episodes written by commitee
I can relate to the above. It's got to the stage now where I really cannot give a st about any of the characters (but Ali Larter WILL be mine!), and am just sitting out the next few weeks to get some closure.

I cannot see any way that they are going to miraculously turn the show around to leave it in a situation that will even make me want to switch on for series 4.

Yes it seems to have really lost its way in this last series. The actors look like they are embarrassed to be saying the lines they have and are just thinking about the money. It's turning into a bit of a parody of itself.

It's a real shame as series 1 was terrific. Plus watching it with my wife takes 2 hours per episode as I have to pause it every 5 minutes to try to explain what is going on - made more difficult by the fact that I can't really follow it myself.

OTOH - Ali Larter chained up in front of those great big heaters making her all sweaty was sheer televisual genius!

I've lost interest. I still have the last 5/6 episodes on Sky+ but they will get deleted if I need the space.

As many people above say it's the constant changes in allegence, who's top baddy this week, who's got powers and who hasn't etc etc. It's just not consistant or seems to have an over-riding story arc anymore.

When is Terminator back on?
