Brilliant programme. I've seen it before but would gladly watch it again and again.
It really was the heydays of motorsport. There's also a programme called "Playboys of F1" or similar that's a great watch.
I heard a interview with Sir Jackie Stuart on R2 the other week that said in '71 the odds on surviving a season was 1-3. Now that's st odds.
P.s I know it was an aeroplane crash etc. but it does give you an idea about the risks these guys took.
P.p.s You think these risks would be put into normal life? I.E not checking your aeroplane correctly and thinking "F it"?
Just a thought while I was writing.
Not the first and sadly definitely not the last racing driver to perish in an air crash. It really was the heydays of motorsport. There's also a programme called "Playboys of F1" or similar that's a great watch.

Just finished watching this on iPlayer, absolutely brilliant!
A bit before my time but it seems the man was a real laugh when he wanted to be, it's a shame that as time has passed you now don't get the same 'characters' as you did back then!
You do , it's just not commercially viable to show your driver sniffing coke while looking for the camel toe if know what I mean . A bit before my time but it seems the man was a real laugh when he wanted to be, it's a shame that as time has passed you now don't get the same 'characters' as you did back then!
However , the driving was far more impressive than it is now .
