Saw Predators at the weekend too, nearly didn't after all the negative comments on here...

Anyway, 6/10 for me. Too many homages to the original movie, wholly predictable and struggled with Brodie as the lead. But, not a bad Saturday night brain-out movie, so just about passed muster!

I resorted to seeing Predators in a desperate attempt to escape from the sun over the weekend. I cant agree more with struggling with Brodie, But it did tick the brainless action box so I was not so disappointed as to mumble in a quiet voice about wanting my money back.

So...who noticed the Predators trailer's MEGA LIE???

Nobody it seems - so I'll enlighten y'all

In the Trailer:

Yet in the Film:

Clearly the intention of the trailers lie was to make you think "how the fk will he get out of that? 15 Laser sights on him!!! I've got to see the film to see the outcome..."

Naughty...

...VERY VERY NAUGHTY

There weren't even 15 Predators in the film FFS!

Lets hope this isn't the start of a trend of lying in trailers.

Watched it last night, didn't look in this thread, but have started a thread about this trend, very fking annoying.

Oh, and the films alright, but it would be a stretch to call it good.

Couple of things:
Do none of these special forces types plan anything, they just seemed to run about reacting. No continuance to Brody's character's remarks about funneling the preds into pinch points.

WTF did the Russian guy have on his belt to create the worlds worst cgi fire? Orders of magnitude too big to be remotely believable, and caused a few chuckles in the audience.

Hardly a trend - Flash Gordon used to do the same in the 30s.

The only thing I could think of (IIRC it was a claymore he had with him, and two grenades- all of which are frag weapons, not explosives. Or am I wrong?) Was that the blast detonated some weaponry/power source on the Predator (remember the baby nuke thing they have on their arm?), thus creating the worlds worst CGI fire.

No, what annoyed me was the creation of a whole different Predator race just to fill one stty plot hole about the one that was strung up. Why couldn't he just have been a traitor/whatever.

I'm sure it was done so that they don't give too much away in the trailer. I think it was a good idea. It means you don't go and see the film knowing too much about what's happening.

I liked it.

In my mind, there's a big difference between not giving much away, and strongly implying a minimum of 15 preds, when in reality there are only a few.

As said in my thread about lying trailers, that implication led me to reasonably assume certain new elements to the new film that haven't been seen before.

The actual end result has nothing like the new elements I was expecting, and thus fell massively short of my expectations.

Always best to give a lower expectation than delivery, than high expectation, and low delivery...

I'm sorry but I think some you guys went to see the wrong film. I've just got back from seeing it and I thought it was excellent! But its very difficult to say anymore without spoilering.
Certainly washed away the memory of those godawful AvP movies and basically did exactly what it said on the tin, a properly stupid action/horror. Yes it was similar to the first one but what's wrong with that? Brody was fine, totally believable and some of the other characters were well written too. Plain & simple, a hugely fun night out. The Predators were back to how they should be too.

Bad points; two characters were hopeless (one of them was pure Basil Exposition). Some of the CGI (the Russian explosion especially) was rubbish. The "wolves & dogs" plot line was redundant as well. It also needed more quotable lines.

Better than Predator 2?........... dare I say it.......yep! 8.5/10

I didn't bother going to watch it in the end.

Think Van Damme and someone else declined offers to star in The Expendables movie?

Van Damme and Wesley Snipes. No idea why they said no, considering the shocking piles of poo they have been involved in recently (or ever in JCvD's case)

SPOILERS........

All these special forces and no one has a compass? Then cut to the scene where she "shows him something" with the leaf in the puddle....she must have known that there was no magnetic north to have known to show him....so she must have had a compass.....therefore why didn't she just show him her compass?!?!

10 secs of minigun fire doesn't bring down a "dog" but one rifle shot does? OK....

Laurence Fishburn, 10 seasons on the planet....seemed to be eating alright!!!

The 2 unarmed guys, why didn't they pick up some weapons when in the drill?

The smaller Predator was being hunted by the larger ones? So how did he get on the planet, where was his ship? Oh yeah, he came in the same ship as the larger ones as he was able to remotely control it.....so they all came together and were obviously going to leave together otherwise he wouldn't have the hardware to remotely control it....

One was killed with a sword swipe to the midrift yet another one had half-a-dozen fragmentation grenades explode at point-blank range but had hardly a scratch??

A badly executed and disapointing film that could and should have been so much better. You might enjoy it if you have no concept of previous Predator films though.

That looks truly awful, judging by the trailer. Probably not quite as bad as "Pirahna" though.... hehe

They all had parachutes fitted, so they could easily have been searched and had other equipment removed, it was Brody who showed her not the other way round, he already mentioned the sun not moving so could have spotted other things before showing her.

She had a high powered large calibre sniper rifle with maximum penetration, miniguns are a smaller calibre. It's also a film (see original Predator film for minigun uselessness)

Yes, there would have been lots of fresh meat around with 10 seasons of hunting.

Dr is inexperienced with guns so naturally doesn't pick one up. The prisoner is a mad knife man so maybe he prefers his knife.

Yes, in it's own space ship. The bigger predator didn't control it, it had set a bomb on to destroy it should it try and use to escape.

Some of the bigger Predators sometimes wear armour, like you see in Fishburns hideout?
