If i was rating Alien films vs Predator films, i'd put them like this:

1) Predator
2) Aliens
3) Alien
[then a big jump down to the second division...]
4) Predators
5)= Alien 3
5)= Predator 2
7) Alien 4
[then down in the depths of hell....]
8) AvP
9) AvP2

Anyone else agree?
I do pretty much agree, although not totally sure about alien/aliens, but both are truly excellent films.

Whats amazing about Alien 4, AvP and AvP2 is that I've seen them but really do not remember a darned thing about them. Totally forgettable.

Finally seen this. More importantly I enjoyed it. It certainly didnt quite have the tension of the original film but it was good.

I'd got Aliens, Alien then Predator as the top 3 but otherwise agree. I enjoyed the film, even though I saw it on a small airplane screen. I felt it captured the spirit of the originals which the AvP films failed spectacularly failed to do. They didn't overdo the cgi and unlike many recent films you could actually see what was going on during the action sequences

Totally agree except swapping Aliens with Predator. If ever there was a film which is more quotable than Predator, it is Aliens. Loads and loads of lines.... "LETS ROCK!!!", "You always were an asshole Gorman!" , "Hey man, its a dry heat!", " I like to keep this handy, for close encounters"

My favourite:

Hudson - "Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?"

Vasquez - "No. Have you?"

Hudson: Seventeen DAYS? Hey man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen HOURS!

Ripley: Hudson! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training. [points to Newt]

Hudson: Why don't you put her in charge?

hehe

I always wondered not only why a leaf was spinning in a pond, but how come one guy noticed the sun wasn't moving, but failed to notice 4-5 massive planets.

Gravitational field of the planet was different from that of Earth.Hence the difference in the leaf......I think

I hand't go tit down as that. I htought that the woman placed a piece of metal in it to form an old fashioned compass and it span due to the erratic nature of the magnetic poles, not gravity

I saw predators the other day - pants McPants at the worlds' lets make a pants fillem competition. Adrien Brody as an action hero....?

iirc the making of predator film the director said that Sonny Landham was the sort of guy who start a fight in a room on his own, so they got him a body guard to protect other people FROM him....

I think what alos makes the film so good is the soundtrack and the music from Alan Silvestre - he did loads with mctiernan didn't he?
