Thanks, will do.

I tried watching the pilot for Caprica, omg it's dire no wonder it was cancelled.
Yeah - more like Crapcrica.

What a waste - it seems to be a totally different show about AI and VR (with a shot of religious philosophy) shoe-horned into the BSG universe because SfFy figured that would guarantee them ratings and save them from having to come up with a good Cylon origin story. All we got was a mess that was all over the place.

If they'd made the AI/VR show that they had wanted as its own thing, along with a proper BSG prequel, both shows probably could have been pretty good.

'Blood and Chrome' (set during the first Cylon War) looked very promising but unfortunately never got developed into a full series, probably thanks to Caprica poisoning the well.

I see that Richard Hatch who played the original Apollo in BSG and Tom Zarek in the new BSG died in February.
Thoroughly enjoyed the new series, although parts of it did leave me doing some head scratching. I've got the full series and Razor on DVD so might well binge watch one weekend.

Loved BSG but kind of fell away from it when even the cylons started getting all preachy about religion. Must go back to it as I have the first season on my Sky box and DVD box set. Without mini-series though which is annoying.

As above, The Expanse is AWESOME and IMO the best Sci-Fi show on at the moment. In fact it's probably the ONLY Sci-Fi show on at the moment.

It means a link to a torrent site (and yes, all the BSG episodes are available for download)

As well as the expanse there's Altered Carbon to look forward to on Netflix this year. The book is one of my all time faves so hoping they do it justice.

Something I couldn't understand when I watched it. Why does commander Adama rate Colonel Tigh? He seems to be a total waste of space even when sober.

He seems to be have been the yin to Adama's yang for the most part. All great leaders need a competent XO, and Tigh was, later issues may have eroded that somewhat, how much is negotiable, but it is clear from the episodes on the planet, what calibre of leader Tigh was capable of being, and how things would have failed without him. He was certainly at his best, one of thebest.

They are old friends from before the galactica days.

Yes. I tink Adama got to where he is thanks to those two having each others back.
I'm fairly sure that there is at least one instance where Adama only got through it because of Tigh's belief in the 'old man.'

There are a few instances when the st hits the fan and Tigh makes the hard decisions to save the ship; in the pilot when they get hit by a nuke IIRC, another time when the ship gets boarded by cylon raiders and it's Tigh who understands what is happening before anyone else. One of those, "flawed but knows his st in a crisis" characters.

Wasn't it more that they were both just old dinosaurs that had been put out to pasture with the ship being decommissioned. They had their history and Adama was just loyal to Tigh who could drink and not cause any trouble as they weren't important.

Once the st hit the fan then he wasn't going to give him the boot as there wasn't anyone else capable to replace him. He had a few good moments where you can see he knew what he was doing.

Oh, that as well yes, just pointing out that he wasn't useless by any means.

Quite, great leaders aren't impeccable. Adama had his faults too, as did the Prez, it was a very well written story.
