Just watched the Oath, absolutely love the bit with Starbuck saving Lee.
Along wit Adama's reaction to Gatea in the CIC

Blood on the Scales was on this week. This episode shows how far it stands above other sci-fi offerings, and why it is more in the Sopranos/The Wire league.
Awesome acting and very tense, very real goings on. The pain and frustration of people who have lost faith in their leaders is very moving, and the reality of the people whom flip, then flip again because they are not fully committed, shows the the very grey areas of mutiny and human relations in my opinion.

Surely one of the best episodes.

This thread popped up again and re-reading it just made me think how much I miss this series. Its not very often a rehash either lives up to the original or adds. BSG with Starbuck as Kara Thrace though was just exceptional. What a complex, utterly fracked up demented, tormented genius character she was. They tried similar with Boltar but I felt it didnt work aswell...a little too inconsistent and random in the character development.

Oh and fav fringe character...the lawyer smile

Jupiter's Eye ep was on this week.
Baltar is my favourite character, along with Adama. His resolute stolid character was a nice antagonist to the meandering selfserving Baltar.

Baltar was portrayed so very differently in BSG compared to the original. In the original he was rather evil; deliberately selling out Humanity for personal power and self-aggrandisement. In the BSG re-imagining he's merely selfish and self-centred, and is somewhat tricked into being the instrument of Armageddon.

Which us why I always liked re-imagined Baltar. The original was one dimensional 70s evil guy, which didn't stack up.
New one wasn't even bad, he was actually a decent fella, he was just very very weak.

It didn't dawn on me until half way through season 2 that Edward James Olmos was Harrison Ford's sidekick (Gaff) in bladerunner.

I've also got the spinoff, Razor, which is pretty weak IMO, it follows the Pegasus just after the attack, but isn't really worth paying for, ok if you can obtain it through other means. ahem.

As a Sci Fi nut, I'm a bit ashamed I've never seen BSG, in any of it's forms...

If one were to aim to view them upon a friendly streaming website, what order should one pursue?

It's quite tricky figuring out the various names!

Cheers.

I wouldn't bother about Caprica. Just get started on the first series of the remade BSG and enjoy. When you finish it, we'll call you a proper sci-fi nut. wink
IIRC isn't there a 'prologue' or mini-series before series1?

Fwiw I thought Caprica showed some promise. Interesting ideas that could maybe have done with more development (and maybe some more budget? smile)

First ep is '33' and starts after the Sky co-produced mini-series.
The Mini-series needs to be watched first.

Razor isn't really a spin-off, its just the first two episodes of Season 4. Not amazing sure, but the flashbacks of Adama in the first Cylon war (in the 'extended edition') are essential viewing.
