Same deal with the old 240 Volvo he drives, trying to give the show a more gritty authentic feel, anything to offset the new age Evo X and Outlander marked cars prominently positioned.
I am still reserving judgement on it. It wasn't bad, but a bit too far fetched to be the sort of realistic, hard edged dramas I was hoping for.
One disadvantage is that he has some very big shoes to fill having come from The Wire which is *the* best police drama ever produced.

Well, you can always remind her that, though he walked out on his wife, he turned into king kong upon finding out that she had found someone else. The way he destroyed her kitchen in such a violent manner was probably meant to represent his 'passion' for his ex. In the real world, I'd like to think he'd be locked up for such violence..
I watched this last night and really enjoyed it.
I thought it was a little unrealistic with regards to the amount of aggression he managed to get away with.
Luther is an interesting character and I will definetly be watching the next one.
Did anybody else find the female killer in this really unnerving. I know she's supposed to be but I thought the actress pulled it off really well.

Yes, and a little bit sexy? No?
Ok I'll get my coat.
I will give it another go next week - it had promise but did seem a bit OTT at times.

i didn't mean sexy from a purely visual standpoint. The lass had a mouth like Cherie Blair- letterbox-esque.
Nice penchent for wigs though

Enjoyed it. Good to see Stringer Bell back on TV.
Hopefully Omar will get to him before long.I have recorded it and will watch it later. Only watching it because of the link to the wire, though I wasnt a fan of Stringer.

Usual BBC overambition though, both in terms of dialogue and storyline (which might lead some to claim it's far fetched and switch off) but I think the quality of the acting, particularly from Elba, saved it.
Totally agree with this but thought it look hopefully. One thing I did notice is that when he kicked the st out of that door, he didnt even seem to hurt his hands one bitUsual BBC overambition though, both in terms of dialogue and storyline (which might lead some to claim it's far fetched and switch off) but I think the quality of the acting, particularly from Elba, saved it.

Yeah, and hopefully Clay Davis will make a cameo. "Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit"
Not quite long enough - it's more like "sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet"
