Fantastic series and a shame its ended. Really good to see Alice back at the end to tie it all together.

I saw it a bit differently. There are two ways to look at some of the choices Alice made. Either she was showing her softer side, in that she wanted Luther to be happy even if that meant she died (unlikely) or she put herself in harms way to endear herself to Luther and win him over. Plus she knew Luther would never let either of them die and would sacrifice himself first.
I prefer the latter. Alice is manipulative and will do anything to win, including playing mind games. I don't doubt she is infatuated by Luther, but once she has won him over there is no challenge left.

both have wonderful intros (the former taking that surprise 'up' direction after the first few bars and a lovely, old style warm ambience, and 'These Days' has a wonderful vocal and one of those 'just perfect' instrumental tracks, esp. from c. 4mins 5 secs in.

I think it is the former. This woman, as cold and as calculated as she is, sees Luther as a sort of equal. I think for this alone makes her 'love' him. Remember, she killed Madsen for Luther. This series was excellent throughout though and Alice was icing on the cake!

There's talk of a film - which I'd like, but I'm really not convinced an Alice spin-off would work. It's her being enigmatic and the relationship between her and Luther that makes it fun. This series was excellent throughout though and Alice was icing on the cake!

I've had this bookmarked, been recording series 3 while catching up on 1 and 2 on Netflix. Watched the lot now, and loved it. I liked the older cars in it, the Volvos (1st series was a 240 wasn't it?), oh and the Jensen. Alice is a great character, I was hoping she would come back, it did miss something in the episodes without her.

Series 3 would be a good place to stop, but it did end with the "So now what?" line, so they could carry it on again if they wanted.
