My mrs really likes it so I decided to watch it too but I was bored with it after about 35 minutes and I wont bother watching any more episodes and I think I set my expectations a little too high.

Meant to add, the cottage where Luther is shacked up looks like Cuckmere Haven in Sussex, and happens to be depicted on the cover of Bill Bryson's current bestseller.

Although it's not Luther on the cover;

"Good work Dirty Harriet" hehe

I liked that, should have been a longer series than 2 episodes though.

Hmm not to impressed with that.

All felt a bit half hearted & rushed.

I think it was a bit rushed due to his other film work. I enjoyed it though nothing like a serial killer enjoying his work at Christmas.

So it's tee'd up nicely for another series - new female protagonist, dodgy criminal overlord with whom he can do business, great old smokers being used liberally (esp the Jag/Daimler)...just (presumably) another police watchdog inquiry into the shooting?

Enjoyable although yes the grill/fridge trick was a rare moment when it's so glaring I give a st

So the new female protagonist - she said she didn't hurt Alice but did she mean she killed her but quickly? I then Luther says I am going to get you.

I did think you've nabbed the diamonds and phones and she is sitting in font if you - so get her now!

And the guy who played the killer was incredibly creepy - great acting

Watched both episodes last night, fairly enjoyable, especially with the beautiful Laura Haddock in it.

One bit I didn't quite understand, perhaps wasn't paying attention, was why blow up the fridge killing the copper?

This is such good news.

We have recently re-watched 2,3 and 4 and they have all excellent - edge of seat stuff. Idris / Luther is possibly the least complex character, his boss and Ruth Wilson are simply incredible actors.

But it is the out-of-this-world writing that makes it so good for us.

Merry Christmas BBC.
