I was looking forward to this and I've heard it's bad, now I'm not sure I'll bother watching. Kermode and Mayo trashed it (with a disclaimer that Kermode hadn't seen the series)
Sums it up perfectly. Nasty, unpleasant, exploitative film with no bite whatsoever. A lot of the movie just didnt make sense.

I enjoyed it. It’s a film for goodness sake. I would agree it became Luther the series caricatured in places but I liked it and it kept me focused for the two and a bit hours.
^This. And the final scene bodes well for future Luther films / series. Can’t wait Also liked the remix of the theme song, Massive Attack’s Paradise Circus.

Compared to some of the stuff on the television though it was 2hrs of entertainment, rather unrealistic but who cares
Yeah, there is a fine line between those who are looking for gaps in plots like that kid who is at a magic show who wants to expose the magician as a fraud, and then for the rest of us stuff you may register but ignore and the kind of stuff that you just cant let slip.I err on the side of films not having to dot every I and cross every T, helps to have a few drinks with some though
I found it... okay, no better than that, but only as a stand-alone thing, but as a huge fan of the series it's so disappointing, such a wasted opportunity.
It doesn't feel like Luther, it’s more like Luther teleported into a Poundland Bond plot. The story is full of huge, gaping plot holes they don’t even try to address and it doesn’t even match the end of the TV series, nope, we’ll forget all that, do a bit of jiggery pokery with the timeline for no good reason.
It’s killed a decent franchise, that was possibly over anyway.

Loved the movie for what it was. If people want real life and accurate, then just go out and walk the streets. Loved it so much in fact, I'm now watching the TV series from the start as I never did in the first place. Loving that as well......
My bet says you will watch the TV series, and then you'll realise how utterly terrible the film actually is.The TV series' are epic on so many levels.
