The Wire will ruin the rest of TV for you let alone other Crime Dramas. The single most consistently excellent TV series ever made. Not even the West Wing or the Sopranos managed to keep such a flawless record for quality as they both had their fair share of duff episodes.
Strong words! I'll see if I can acquire the back-catalogue thumbup

More Wire in the Blood than the Wire. frown
I've never actually seen The Wire, maybe that's why I like Luther so much.
The Wire is in a different league to anything else you will ever watch. You will watch it 2 or 3 times at least. When I first watched it I thought season 2 was very weak, but second time round it got a lot better. You have to watch it, it is the greatest TV show ever, but a word of warning, watching The Wire means the end of TV as you know it. You will compare everything to it and nothing comes close. Then you will watch Wire related programmes. The Corner is a great substitute. There are others, you too will become an addict.
We took in a stray cat a few years ago, she was a mess, filthy, covered in fleas, helpless and quite ill, but she came good and is as much a part of this family as anyone else. We call her "Bubbles", you will understand why when you watch it.

As for Luther, I deleted it from Sky+, nuff said.

It seems to have gone very stupid.

Next weeks story already looks extremely weak if it is based on the events of the last episode.

Was anyone else thinking filthy thoughts when Luther broke into Alice's apartment.

She was rather tasty in her bedclothes. This episode she wasn't looking so mental.

ps me and the missus utterly enjoyed the series too.

About time there was something that whilst being dramatised and gripping, it's not too hard on the bonce.

Watched the finale - it was excellent - shame the rest of the series was so terrible.

Didn't she look hot with a shotgun in her hands tho!

There were definately some problems with the series but on the whole I thought it was decent and it finished very strongly. Hoping for another series!

In a recent piece in Variety, creator Neil cross mentions the third (and final) series as well as a possible movie:

Variety said:
Fans of "Luther" will be happy to know that work on the third series has already begun, though Cross hints that it will probably be its last. "Idris (Elba) is a busy man."

Signs look good, however, that it won't be the last time audiences see the character. "There's a strong possibility there will be a 'Luther' movie in the near future," says Cross.

Mmmmm - Not sure about sperm, but I thought the second series suffered from little of this character's presence.

Hopefully she'll be more central in series 3.
