Is there a thread for this yet? Just saw an ad on More4 and it started last week.

Billed as grittiest cop show since The Wire - big shoes to fill! I've set Sky Plus but will have to find Ep1 on the net.

The brief preview looked pretty good. Anyone been watching it from the states?

Caught it on 4OD (damn freeview broke)
Really liked it, although obvioulsy you can't help thinking OC when you see blondie...but he's actually pretty decent.
Very 'The Wire' with the whole seprate character groups who interplay with each others stories.

Oh..and maybe if this is the first thread on Southland get *SPOILERS* added to the title as folks will let slip whilst others haven't caught it wink

Promising first episode.

That OC bloke is quite good too and I like the 90210 reference in the show. smile

Hope this isn't one of those US shows that will get canceled after one season.

I have watched the whole of the 1st season, one of the better shows to come out of the US.

Constantly gritty with quite close cutting story lines. Definitely one to watch!

Yeah I caught the first one on 4OD yesterday and enjoyed it. It's fairly gory but does leave extreme sights to the imagination... like the dangling fingers smile

The ongoing story line gets quite good. One of those shows where you can easily get attached to the characters!

I like the mentor, got plenty of his own issues.

Apparently it did by NBC! However another American broadcaster, TNT has picked up the show. I certainly like the look of the trailer and will be watching the first episode on 4OD asap thumbup

OK, couldn't wait so just watched it now. What an opening episode! Utterly brilliant.
I'll definately be tuning in for the rest of the series!

Very good ep.2.

Kind of like a modern day NYPD Blue, which isn’t a bad thing!

Just 4OD'd Ep.2

Starting to add to the characters, I'm actually ( and I didn't expect to) warmimng to 'blondie' boy wink his character isn't particularly original but he's making it his own.

Blondie actually isn’t a bad actor. OC or not. biggrin

If fact, I’d even push the boat out and say that he’s a very good actor. The whole Southland cast are very good. cool

So are we sticking with this? I've been away for a while so just caught up on 4 episodes on Sky Plus, now up to date. I reckon it's compelling, really enjoying it.

Yep, season two has been great. The latest one (doc's family being killed / OC boy going on a blind date after his shift) is the best one so far.

Was that episode part of season 2?. I must have missed all of season 1 then.

I'm another fan of this series, it's certainly a hidden gem.

Season 1 only lasted for 7 episodes so they have run straight on with season 2.

....which only lasts for 6.

Really annoying when they do that. They make a seemingly excellent cop drama which has potential, only have a handful of episodes in a season and a year between each season!

What happened to the black female cop's 'new' partner? (the Latino one)

I didn't recall that he was leaving last week....
