Father Brown is on BBC1 at 1:45 week days and is far better than Sherlock.

Why it's hidden away when it would make perfect early Sat evening or Sunday afternoon viewing is a mystery Sherlock would be unable to solve.

Thanks Riley
And I agree it would be ideal evening programming

I'm sure this may have been covered already but why did sherlocks sister go to his house pretending to be serial killers daughter and then to be watsons shrink?

What a bizarre story arc. Doesn't seem to have been any point to that at all

If I were to take a wild guess, I would think it's because she wanted to bring Holmes and Watson back together for her torture experiment. It probably doesn't stand up to detailed scrutiny, but I'm not sure the series ever has. For me it was just a bit of fun TV.

I finally got round to watching episode 3 last night, after having seen many of the comments on here.

Hmmmm...

The OH lost the plot in 5 minutes as she was on her laptop, but I persevered for the whole episode and came away echoing many of the thoughts on here.

What a convoluted mess, Saw 1,2,3, etc..., weak ending, lots of wondering what the other two episodes were supposed to add to the story whilst being rubbish, juvenile storyline, etc...

All in all, a bit sad to see what had been such a great series over the last few years end this way. But at least it's done I suppose.

I also take issue with the fact they tried to pass off a 29-30 year old actress as the sister of Sherlock and Mycroft, supposedly only 1 year younger than Sherlock, and 8 years younger than Mycroft. But I couldn't believe that for a second.

Stupid episode, really spoiled the whole lot for me given how much I have enjoyed the show previously.

It was an awful end end to a terrible series.

The first few series were great. Then every episode had to be totally centered on Sherlock, Watson and/or Watson's annoying wife. Similarly, Moriarty was great initially. Then he had to be a feature of every story.

Not that much of an issue, considering her upbringing/enviroment. I know people who are ageless, lucky so and so's.

You are correct, and I am wrong, for which I apologise. I watched the entire episode convinced that the actress playing Eurus was Faye Marsay (also played the Waif in Game of Thrones) and of course now, having actually looked, I was wrong and it was Sian Brookes.

It really is a brilliant Sunday night viewing option. I have no idea what the BBC thinks sometimes. Maybe it doesn't fit in with the cooking/singing st that seems to dominate these days.
