I took employment at Wimbledon Tennis Club as a linesman, stood behind the players in this position (stooping slightly, hands on knees)...... happy is the man who's hobby is also his job!

The announcments when he and Baddiel parted ways said a lot

Newman: Parting ways... been good working with him... wish him well etc
Baddiel: What a he is, hope i never see him again etc etc

I often wondered if it was fuelled by Baddiel's long, clever, intellectual based sketches raising a laugh, while Newman doing some water colour paint by numbers had people aching from laughter.

A shame indeed that he's left our screens..... and had a haircut, traitor!

Could be. People of Restricted Seriousness was never funny, Painting by Numbers was briliant though as was Horsey Nana if you remember that....
