I thought it was good and will certainly watch the rest.
Considering how 'gritty' the film was I thought the scene with the shell suited bike gang was rather silly/slapstick and a bit out of place.

I really enjoyed that bit. I thought the main bully was hilarious.

he was channelling Paddy Considine in A Room For Romeo Brass, but that's hardly surprising...There were some 'Fizzy Boys' like that around Milton Keynes in the 80s, the portrayal was a bit of a caricature but then so is the whole thing, isn't it?

As well, I suppose, there was similar 'light relief' in Dead Man's Shoes with them all piling into the Citroen. It just seemed a bit out of place (to me) with the general feel of the film This is England.

I thought it was great. After the first half an hour I was ready to dismiss it as a parody too far, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
It seemed to lack the darkness of the film but good old Shane, just when you think everything is going well...
Credit to director Tom Harper too. Clearly a very talented young man.

I'm told that it does indeed get significantly darker in the next episodes.

Indeed. Lol & Kelly's father seemed a rather sinister chap, and Combo is yet to show his face...

...Can't wait for next week.

Was he their father? Or "just" their mum's current squeeze?

I have a theory about him if it's the latter...

Might have been - but I'm sure I heard their mum say 'Your dad's back' when they were having their shouting match...

...either way, nobody nice ever drove one of those old Grannies. Tidy seats though.

Was a bit sceptical about this when i saw the trailers but seem's so far so good.

Also was good to find out what happened to milky as that was pretty savage at the end of the film.

Did anyone notice who plays Woodys dad? wink

Not 100% sure and don't want to make a tit of myself in case I'm wrong? Is he from a HBO comedy??

With regards to Lol's father ....... I have a feeling there might just need to be a pedo alert!!

Enjoyed this. Was surprised by the amount of comedy moments in the episode though, especially given the film was pretty damn serious. Looking forward to the next episode - anyone know how many they are planning in this series?

Really enjoyed it.

The biker gang bit was very funny.

I liked watching it (and the film) and going "that's Grimsby" over and over again.
