What happened? I don't watch it, but apparently it was knocking people sick.
Quite a large rape scene at the end. Didn't bother me too much but there's was a lot of negative comments about it on the TIE86 Facebook page.

It's pretty dark.
I watched it because someone forced me.. I don't think I'll bother again though.

It was pretty hard to watch to be honest. My wife was rather distraught after seeing it so we watched Family Guy afterwards to try and lighten the mood.

Personally I found the cross eyed kid and the chinless girl having sex more offensive.
I don't think there was a single character that didn't piss me off thoroughly.

I hope we never export the show outside the UK as I would hate for people to think England is actually like that.

I've seen some pretty grim films but the final 10 minutes of that episode were extremely hard to watch.

Massive fan of the film, not as big a fan of this. Too dark and depressing.

I'll watch the remainder of the series but hopefully it will lighten up a bit.

I think we've already had the light bits. The only good thing I can see coming is Combo kicking Lol's dad's face off.

The Dogtanian / fight bit was very funny - as was the whole 'Gadget' romance.

I still think its been excellent - if you saw the film then you knew this was going to get dark and nasty at some point, and yes it was shocking - but then again the end of the Film when Milky gets 7 bells kicked out of him I struggle to watch.

Not so sure whats going to happen with Combo to be honest.

It was pretty grim and dark. The obvious story line is Combo dealing with the rapist but I think there will be a twist in that. Plus Combo crossing paths with Milky/rest of the group again is likely to be addressed.

Can see a dark ending.

Last nights episode was some of the best TV I have ever watched, amazing acting and very impressive all round.

The final episode is going to be absolutely fantastic, I hope they make more.

I refuse to believe this on the grounds that I don't want to.

Completely agree - I think it has been a superb TV drama so far. It packs the full gambit of emotions and really pushes 'out the screen' so to speak.

Episode three was extremely dark towards the end but it was a honest, non-sensational scene which truely conveyed the horror of that particular crime. I cannot understand why people would criticise it for being hard to watch or overly dark - how can you lighten something like that up FFS?!

I think Channel 4 and the team behind the series should be applauded and rewarded for making and showing a proper adult drama without softening the edges out. British TV has little time or motivation to produce properly gripping drama (compared to the USA) and This Is England '86 really highlights how mediocre and homogenised most other UK drama are IMO.

Cannot wait for the final episode next week and looking forward to This Is England '90 already.

gamut, not gambit. What do you mean by pushes 'out the screen'? an honest. truly. most other UK drama is. (or dramas are)

Other than that, I tend to concur.

I found it pretty hard to watch too, the bloke who plays the dad is pretty convincing

overall the series has been gritty but good, but last nights rape scene was just too dark for me

I'm certainly not moaning about the gritty feel. I thought that scene was well acted and shot to get the seriousness of the act across.

Wife made me switch it off then had a go about me wanting to watch that sort of thing.

How was I supposed to know that was coming, its not as if they stayed with that scene and you saw it building rolleyes. It was a relief when they switched back to Combo's entrance, but that didn't last. If I had any clue it was going to get that rough I wouldn't have put it on when she was in the room.

Oh well, at least I now know for sure its X factor or nothing when she is around.

What makes it worse is I'm now rooting for the racist thug to turn up in episode four and sort it all out.

It's still like that in Atherton (insert Jeremy Kyle scouting patch of choice)biggrin

The rape scene was uncomfortable.

.
Yes it is a treat amongst the dull samey ones, it's no only one though.
In the 80s themselves we could churn out stuff like this every year, now we import it on the whole.
