Dig!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388888/

An entertaining look into the contrasting fortunes of 2 bands (The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre).

The Warhols are more commercially successful and marketable whilst the more critically acclaimed but deeply flawed (thanks to heroin/booze/etc) BJM can't keep it together. Friendships fail, jealousy between bands and band members, fights on stage and a broken sitar!

Some good music too.

I rather like Control - its a profile film of the Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis. A troubled guy, Joy Division music is the perfect backdrop to the story

There's a film called Hype! on Youtube that is all about the late 80s/ early 90s Seattle bands which is excellent.
