Wow..in a word.

Best film i've seen for a long time, absolutely stunning.

Am i right in thinking that Harry Brown is a UK version/homage?

I thought it was a great film. One of those films where Clint was perfect for the role. Harry Brown is also good. Not as polished, but far grittier.

Really liked Gran Torino. When he says HB is far grittier he means absolutely, very, far grittier (but also good).

Loved Gran Torino and yes Harry Brown has a similar theme, although in a very British way.

I don't know why, but when I watched Gran Torino at the cinema I was expecting to love it and just didn't. It was a good film, but lacked something. Over-rated IMHO. Can't quite put my finger on what was missing.

I like thought-provoking, dark, well-acted dramas with a good plot and screenplay and was expecting this to fit the bill. frown

I loved 'Mystic River' (directed by Clint Eastwood, 'azitappens!). That was a brilliant film, with an amazing cast.

Gran Torino's on of the best films I've ever seen; both hilarious and deeply sad. It had me welling up in the cinema.

Harry Brown is a very different film, and also excellent. I'm not sure I'd discribe it as a copy or homage though, it came out 11 month after GT and I'm not sure that's enough time to write, film and do post production to that standard.

I thought Gran torino was brilliant, as others have said, very funny but also very sad. I am not ashamed to say that my eyes were a bit teary at the end... Oh ok I admit it I am a big girl's blouse, but cracking film

Still great in my eyes after watching it several times as well, should appeal to most people with a brain. Even Mrs C liked it and her taste in films is frankly shocking most of the time.

Watched this at the cinema, superb film, strangely moving if you know people of Clint's character age group, seeing neighbourhoods change around them and not always for the best.

Harry Brown is also superb.

I have to agree it's a great film and well acted, especially when the two teenage actors Bee Vang and Ahney Her had never acted before.

On a different note I watched District 9 on sky the other night for the first time and finally understand why people raved about it, a truly thought provoking movie.

I liked it but didn't think it was as great as everyone said. Clints character was just not at all like-able.

Still worth a watch though.

I really enjoyed Gran Torino too...
But there was something missing.

Lots more gratuitous Muscle Car driving.

Exactly. Not a particularly warming character but you still sympathise with him esp at the end, very clever.

Well the whole point is the change in character.

They had it on the plane when I went to America last year. I'd never heard of it but it was either that, a few others I wanted to watch, a load of crap, or this with the great man himself. I had no expectations which was probably a good thing but sweet jesus. What a film. Clint at his best. Seeing it was one of the high points of my holiday.

Great film. Soundtrack is brilliant.

Jamie Cullum playing it live is haunting.. Just cant find it other than on youtube.

Good film no doubt but that boys acting is so bad it kinda takes away from the movie alittle. Especially the bit near the end when he freaks out when Clint locks him in the basement. So so so bad it makes me cringe and laugh at the same time.

Agree with that. The ending pissed me off as well. Other than that, a very good film. I really must get round to seeing Harry Brown, shame on me.
