Sorry, I can't be bothered to read 77 pages of this thread, but I have to say, I got halfway through season 2, went away for a week and have felt no urgency to go back to it.
Too much hype for what to me seems like a pretty mediocre US series.
There is nothing mediocre about Breaking Bad.Too much hype for what to me seems like a pretty mediocre US series.
It only gets going from season 3 onward.
My opinion is it's over rated and there's much better out there:
GOT
Ray Donovan
Southland

I think thats the iPad, otherwise, fk!And I dont get the Emmy results. Bryan Cranston fine, he was great but thats a tough group. Woody Harrelson or Matthew McConaughey also deserved it, Aaron Paul could easily have gone to Peter Dinklage after the trial scenes but I guess thats down to taste.
But Anna Gunn? Thats a joke! Unless she was acting as a terrible actress playing an easy part then damn. Lena Headey should of got it by miles. Christina Hendricks or even the Downton ladies. I dont get that. She is the weakest part of the show.

Would agree Anna Gunn shouldn't have had an award, but it should have gone to Sarah Rafferty instead, or Donna from Suits. One of the best characters on a show that is rapidly becoming the best thing to come out of the US in years. And I dont get the Emmy results. Did well at the Emmys last night...
It was their final year and they cleaned up!
outstanding you might say- Outstanding Drama Series - Breaking Bad
- Outstanding Writing in a Drama - Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad)
- Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series - Bryan Cranston
- Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series - Aaron Paul
- Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series - Anna Gunn

Maybe Gunn won the award more for acting through sickness than the performance per se? I seem to remember she gained so much weight because she was quite poorly at the time. Maybe not what it should be about, but these things happen.CVM said:
Not bad for a series where "nothing much happens".
I think that's a bit unfair. Nothing much happens for the first 2 seasons really. It doesn't really get any good till Gus turns up. After that it is very good but to be honest I can see why people stop watching it before Season 3. GALLARDOGUY said:
Aaron Paul's part is what won him that. I don't think he's a particularly great actor.
He was well suited to this role though.
Not uncommon in TV drama land, it's hard to think of any series of note whose leading actors went on to bigger things - George Clooney is the only one that springs to mind. He was well suited to this role though.

Series of note in your lifetime maybe (not knowing how old you are!), but Denzel Washington, Robert Redford, Robin Williams, Alan Alda, Roger Moore amongst MANY others started off in TV series (of note in their day).GetCarter said:

My girlfriend and I have just finished the last episode. We've been watching 1 or 2 a week since just after Christmas and avoided all the spoilers etc. Amazing program and a fitting ending, I didn't enjoy it so much after Gus died but it's incredibly well written and acted.
I hope the Saul spin-off doesn't spoil it though

Got through all 5 seasons in the last two weeks. Waited a while to watch it after seeing all the hype. It lived up to it though, cracking from start to finish. Not quite good enough to knock Sopranos off the top spot for my favourite ever tv series but it takes second place. There were quite a few moments over the course of the show where I found myself looking at the screen in both disbelief and awe at what was happening. Great twists along the way as well.
Need to get round to watching The Wire at some point as that's meant to be brilliant.
