I even had it in my diary (how sad ) - will watch tonight. The end of series 3 was pretty mean I thought, he was a nice chap
Apart from the insufferable Jessie, I think the show is excellent. It shows the dilemmas Walt faces really well.Im obviously not off to watch it right now, bbiab
Found it, this is what i put in the other thread:
Jut watched the 3rd series of this. The end of the 2nd was a disappointment; all those hints of what was to come, the bits floating in the pool, and it ended up being a plane crash, mostly unconnected to the plot really. Its seemed like a let-down and I think maybe they weren't confident of a 3rd series.
But they got one, and its been good. I'd agree with the points above about character arc; Walt has become someone who runs dealers over and executes them with their own guns. Who saw that in his future when we watched the start of series 1? We saw a hint of it at the end of series one with his ultimatum to Tuco, and blowing up his office, but this is becoming a man who will do simply anything. He quite clearly sees Jessie as a son now, who must be protected at all costs.
Jessie does continue to annoy. He is such a child, proved by his handling of the dealers who ordered the death of his mate. Who cares? Its business, and his mate was in the wrong place, and they all knew it at the time. Jessie is several levels above the street crap now, and is making millions. Grow up.
I do feel sorry for Gail. Though it looks like the moment that Jessie takes the step into being a killer that Walt has already taken.
Series 4 is filming, and will debut in July, so only a few months to wait.
What next? We must see a calming of the relationship between the main bad guy (forgotten his name, Mr Chicken I'll call him) and Walt. I do think Jessie's actions in having the dealers killed were right, and Mr Chicken has acted far too angrily about it. He wants Walt and Jessie dead and that wont happen, but neither can he be killed. He is not Tuco, and his network is too large to be taken over by Walt and Jessie.
I honestly don't know what will happen next.

I thought an interesting episode in Walt's journey was when he found out his cancer was in remission. He was almost disappointed. He couldn't use it to justify his 'career' to himself any more.
I think that was an awesome twist.. it made him, as you say, have to make a stark choice.. did he want to carry this on now just because.!Well i think the genius of the show is that each decision which often seem like the right and necessary at the time lead to more issue. As far as GUS being nice are you kidding me? Gus is only looking out for his own self interests and is killing people left and right ruthlessly via his goons. He is also spreading a plague of drugs though several states he is high enough on the scale to battle with the deadly cartels. I think Walt did almost get out think about the part where he's burning the money because he is realizing that it is corrupting him. But then he gets swept back in. There are a lot of shades of grey in this show and that's why I think its so good.
Season 4 is off to a great start!.
I can understand the frustration expressed here with Jessie, but don't forget that it was his stupidity (exposing himself as a small scale cooker/dealer) that gave Walt his introduction to the game. If Jessie was more careful, more professional, would he have brought his naive old school teacher into his business?.
Without Jessie, Walt would likely be dead from his cancer and his family left hundred of thousands of dollars in debt. Jessie may be a numpty, but he gave Walt his lifeline and Walt isn't the sort of man to forget that.
Gus is the consummate professional, cold and calculating, the sort of person we would all want to be like if we were in the drug game. The reality is I bet a few of us would be bricking it and making even more silly mistakes than Jessie and Walt combined.

Well, get back to work
That's going down as an immortal line in my repertoire now!
My old boss used to say exactly that at the end of most meetings... Good advice it was as I still have a job, and he doesn't.That's going down as an immortal line in my repertoire now!
I sense that Walt somehow will outlast Gus as well. I didn't keep up with season/series 3 (Couldn't do Dexter AND BB!)so this really was my 1st introduction to Gus.
Well, back to work now.
MORE SPOILERS BELOW:
I wondered why they made a point of the old cook using the knife at the beginning and then realised it would come into use again when boss-man walked down the stairs pissed off.
I like the twist at the end with the lab notes in the old cooks houses. I guess Hank will get involved again somehow... Probably Jessey getting fingered somehow (no not that way).

Guys, can you edit your posts to include spoiler tags, now we have them!
My theory
Gus killed his own man because Gail was more important to Gus than just a business relationship. That's why we saw the scene where they are unpacking the lab, Gus, Gail and Victor together to show that those three had a previous relationship before Walt.
I now feel that Jessie has made peace with his actions and the place he's in. Before he was uneasy and out of control hence the meth and self destructive behaviour. Now he seems to be logical and calculating and happier with himself. This series will be the making of him and his moving into possibly the role that Victor used to hold.
Victor was an important character to Gus, he kept an eye in the lab, the laundry and ran errands for him, the only other person we know like this is Mike, who clearly was not expecting Gus's reaction as he pulled his piece on Gus! Victor made another mistake that led to him being kiled, I think it was him who guaranteed Gail's safety to Gus and Gus now blames him for his death.
Gail may have been a brother in law of Gus or related another way.

Why did Gus eliminate his own guy at the end?
Was seen by witnesses at Gail's flat. Why did Gus eliminate his own guy at the end?

Nah, to them he was just a random latino male.
Plus Mike had no idea what was going to happen and it would have been him that told Gus what happened so I doubt it was for that.
How did Gus meet Gail? This I think is one of the most salent points in this, what did Gail mean to Gus, business? Or more than that? College friend, Bro in law could be anything!

Nah, thats what he said, but its not true. He was there for long enough that the people would pick him out of a line-up. I wasn't convinced when he said it, and neither was Mike as he gave him a proper long look about it. He then told Gus on the phone, Gus cleared up the loose end.
