He hasn't dealt with that from the moment it happened, which is how come Victor found him sitting in the car at the beginning of the last episode.

Of course you're both right, I was more talking about the guys in the bath tub, Tomas' killers, cash machine head and all the other st he was involved in. He seemed to be quite on top of things when he lectured Walt about being a pussy and not recognising that Gus had the perfect opportunity to kill them both.

I guess Gale is catching up with him now hence the two idiots Skinny Pete and Badger!

Well the situations were totally different the ATM people put themselves in that situation whereas Gale was an innocent and it was a cold blooded execution. Yes it was a matter of self-preservation but basically he took the life of an innocent hence the moral dilemma and pain he feels about the matter

I think you're right, the writers didn't make enough of it in the last episode, so I guess it's going to be a big issue in a few episodes time. While it's true he was an innocent it truly was a "him or us" situation.

I don't understand why Mike hit Walt.

Also why did Mike say to Walt that he'd never see Gus again?

I'm guessing because the new guy arrived that Gus isn't the one man band we've been led to believe.

Gus wont be back because he tried to kill Jessie and Walt and failed, they then killed Gale (who I and others believe to be more important to Gus than simply business) and he then killed Victor in front of them, they know too much now.

Walt was trying to get Mike to betray Gus and set up his execution, I would imagine that the presence of a new guy complicates this idea so much that Mike had to send him a message that he was loyal to Gus and his organisation.

We don't know how new the new guy is though, I'd assume he has been part of Gus's operation for a while and must be quite high up in the food chain to be entrusted with the lab. I don't we've ever been led to believe that Gus is a one man band, yes he was being given drugs by the cartels but to shift that much product across that many states means he must run a huge operation and will have plenty of reliable henchmen like Victor and the new guy.

I thought that when Mike said they would never see Gus again, that was because Gus had made the decision that Walt and Jessie were too risky to deal with directly, and that keeping his distance from them would be safer. I also think Gus quite liked Walt (despite his unprofessionalism) and that his judgements have been clouded by that relationship, allowing Walt to get away with more and more until this final event of Gales murder. Staying away from Walt helps him to make better choices from a business perspective.

I don't know if Mike beating Walt was for show or not, and if not I don't know what message he was sending Walt either - was it to show loyalty to Gus, a personal attack out of anger caused by Walts almost casual attitude to killing that has now arisen, or just to prove to Walt that despite carrying a gun and acting like a gangster, a genuinely hard man (including Gus) will beat him and kill him before he can even get his shiny new pistol out.

My take on it was an almost friendly message, ironically enough. A sort of 'don't be stupid'.

This, plus also his venting his frustration at being told something potentially very dangerous / bad, but that he finds himself agreeing with.
100% sure walt will sit down with Gus in the next episode..

Actually i think the RSV is correct and I believe Mike is trying to spare Walt's life in a way by conveying the message that there is no way you can get to Guus before I can get to you. Mike's employer at the end of the day is Gus and I think Mike took insult to the fact that Walt would suggest he's not loyal but at least we know it's out there now and I have a feeling that we'll see mike faced with a decision of whom to side with in the future. Also Jessie will have to confront his demons in order to move forward and its a situation that will either crush him or make him stronger

Gus is gone and this new guy is going to be Walt's point of contact within Gus' organisation. I don't think Gus will be able to look Walt or Jessie in the eye for quite a while, if my hunch is right Gale was a very important person to Gus and he's not taken his murder lightly.

RSV is right, Mike was being friendly not hostile with that beating, it was intended to show him that he isn't ready no matter what he's got in his trousers now! As Paulfontaine says he may come around to Walt's way of thinking but it'll take more than what happened in the first episode to do it.

And Jessie, I'm really hoping that Jessie can face up to his new demons, he seemed really focused before it hit him and I'd like to think he's going to be the one to keep Walt sane while working for the crazy neck slitting chicken man!

I'm a little irked at the length of time it has taken for this to return - I feel really out of sync with the pacing (mainly because of the usual shows that have been and gone in between) and I'm out of touch with the bit-part characters. For instance I didn't have a clue who the girl was that visited Jesse with the kid and money

Still awesome though despite the niggles above yes

She was from last season, she was the sister of Tomas who shot Combo, Tomas' killers were then killed by Walt running them over and shooting them when Jessie went to kill them.

Jessie met her in rehab when he was stealing a bit of the cook, liked her and found out her brother was in a gang and they made him kill somebody.

It really helps to watch the 3rd series again. I did last week and it is shocking how much I had forgotten. Not just certain scenes, but integral parts to the flow of the story line.

If you really look at this show the writing, storyline and life the actors breath into the characters is amazing nothing is by chance. In my opnion the best show by far and away in the last decade. I am not even a tv person more of a reader (giving away my full on nerd status) but this is one of the few shows I look forward to

It was at 40:50ish on my copy. On looking at it again, it may not have been Gus, and it may not have been Jessie's house. paperbag

Saying that though, if it wasn't Gus at Jessie's house, who was it and where?

I think it was Gus's new boy and it was Jessie's house.
