answer - the female characters. eg ruth, shula, pat, susan, elizabeth etc they're such a bunch of pious, self righteous feminist horrors. The only exceptions are jill (she's a bit like your your mum) and lillian (bonkers, but she likes a drink and enjoys anything else politically incorrect)
