Her family had taken out a loan and as a means of ensuring they paid it back, one member of the family had to be frozen. She volunteered to be frozen in a special box.

Au contraire.

"Finally, a lie to big!"

The lens flare on the starship's bridge was a very funny shout-out to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek.

And what about the controls to Sardick's cloud-controlling machine being "isomorphic" was a nice callback to "The Pyramids of Mars." I love that the Doctor dismisses the line he fed Sutekh as being complete twaddle — only to be proved wrong.

Are we watching the same program?

Apparently not so ...

I apologise in advance for being crude, but I believe I'd have no option other than to glaze her like a doughnut.

I'd have to save some for Miss Jenkins though - she's on my 'allowed' list...bouncebounce

Bloody dire.
Dragged out, over sentimental (common these days), over loud music all the way though to cover the 'dialogue' and over the top post-production effects like lens flair(?) etc.

Short on story and I know its not really for adults, but I found it way too childish.

Go back and change time? Wow! Then why not go back and change the course of the spaceship eh? Duh!.

Thought the last series was bad, but it just gets worse! If this is Moffets work to come then he can forget it as Sorry, non of it seem to gel at all.
The 'new' Doctor (I dont blame him its the writing), the self analysing crap. Feeling sorry for creatures. To be honest I keep waiting for him to stop what he is doing and go and blubber in the corner.

Where are the monsters to be scared of? I thought that is what Doctor Who was all about?

I'm afraid your going to have to wait a while for the three ghosts to visit, they're rather busy..

@HD Adams and flatinfourth2:

Granted, it's not a documentery. But before you start with Dr Who, you've already agreed to a massive suspension of disbelief. When the story is SO dire it cuts thorugh that even for a non-critical 9 year old (who still believes in Santa!), then there's something wrong.

I liked the last series and the current incarnation of the Dr is good. However, this Christmas special was really quite tedious. I was just waiting for it to end to be perfectly honest. Usually it's one of the highlights of Christmas TV. At least it wasn't drawn out over two parts I guess.

I really wanted to like this.
I liked the basic idea and the acting was good, but by christ was it tedious and not exciting enough for a Dr Who.

Two things occured.
1. Why couldn't she be cured and what what of problem did she have that she could be 100% ok today and dead tomorrow.
2. The Dr actually made him bitter and hate xmas. He goes back, sorts the Shark, meets the girl, falls in love then discovers that she's going to die and so hate xmas as that's when he misses her most.

Also, the painting of her, she looked much older. Was that just me or was it a bad painting.

For goodness' sake, it's an immortal alien that travels through time. He could technically fix everything by going back in time to just before it happens. But that would make a fairly st TV show.

And the "Changing the bulb" gag came from Red Dwarf.
