I recall an interview with Gerry when he was talking about Lew Grade telling him that he could not make any more "puppet" tv shows as the public were losing interest, that is why he went to real life actors for Space 1999, apparently grade was expecting him to be upset, but he was secretly delighted as this was what he had always wanted... bearing this in mind, I would expect real actors and CGI for the hardware..... I think he will do it right.....

Anderson HATED the puppets. He'd only got into the genre because his first commission was a puppet show. He couldn't wait to stop using them.

I loved Space 1999. Also have vague but fond memories of UFO.

Bring back Space 1999 bounce

Not a remake, just show them again and again and again...

Both series have been repeated in fairly recent times.

The real "mystery" series is "The Secret Service" which was an odd combination of puppet and live action and featured comic Stanley Unwin as a spy who was also a vicar. It did not get shown much at the time, many ITV franchise holders declining to pick it up. As a result, not many ever saw it. I mainly remember it as a comic strip in teh affiliated TV21 comic, "Countdown".

They re-made Captain Scarlet in CGI a few years ago, never saw a full episode of it but from what I saw they had taken all its charm away. Which is a shame because Captain Scarlet was my favorite Gerry Anderson show. I hope they don't do the same to Thunderbirds.

This could be good, if it's up the the standards of say the latest Dr Who?

The soundtracks gonna be a bit flat without Barry Gray though.

My 30 year old son was clearing his stuff which he had been hoarding since he was a little boy, came across his "Thunderbirds" clock, still works.
