The big names in the show were big names in the crime world 90 years ago. It has made me read up on a few.
Like the O'Bannion gang and Bugsy Malone.

How far has it veered? I thought it was on track with the big stuff.

Little things can't really be verified.

Holy smoke.
What an ace episode.
War vets tactical strike against a bunch of idiot gangsters was ace....so real, a surgical strike! Loved his struggle with the pistol in his pants, and the one handed rifle shot. I did notice a disparity in numbers when he was killing Gyp's men.
Will he turn out to be Nucky's nemesis or saviour?
Also loved Nucky's comeback, the attack on Masseria's men, the end of Gyp (what a fruitloop!!), the bonding of the brothers.

And the long game!! Getting Rothstein! When did he plan that little doozie!?!?
What gangster tops Nucky for the long game? He's like Palpatine!

Probably worth putting spoiler tags on that to be fair

Why? it has been aired!

If we started putting spoiler tags on everything, just in case, then the threads would become a right pain to read.....

For a guy with one eye Richard is a great shot. I know what his past is, but come on he's a one man army.

Can now read this thread again after finally watching the last episode of the series. It was quite something, not sure if it was worth the tedium of the middle episodes but wow. A real gritty finish. Will miss Gyp though, the show needs someone with sharp hair and style.

Gyp was a great character, was sad to see him go.

Series four might be more politics and courtroom stuff? Or will Rothstein seek revenge...we've never seen his muscle, 'Lucky' and his partner were scared, but we have never seen why.
Will Masseria accept the loss of 40 plus men?

If they follow real-life then Rothstein has a long career before him, so I could imagine the small war Nucky had this season would be nothing compared to a full on battle with Rothstein. On the other hand, both of them are shrewd businessmen so I could see them coming to an 'arrangement'. I'm more interested to see how Chicago/Capone are going to be handled, lots of scope for interesting stuff there - especially if you add Chalky White to the mix smile

Only three episodes in (catching up via Lovefilm DVDs) but a tad underwhelmed, seems to rest on a lot of style and period recreation, no completely rivetting storylines yet. Is it just a slow burn show?

Yes. I think in this thread there might be mention of series one being ok, and series two being 'bloody hell', and it stays there for most of the next two series.

Difficult to recall what the big story in the first series is now...

Cool I'll stick with it then. So much decent TV, so little time!

The trailers have started, last year it was Oct/Nov, so am guessing very close. Sky usually run the new straight after the old, if that's the case, then it would be another 13 weeks away, since we'll be on S2E12 on Tuesday. They might start doubling up on S3?

Hmm. I panicked as i seen on facebook that it premiered last night in the US on HBO and thought that Sky Atlantic mirrored this.
