Same here, it's good when acting, direction editing comes together.

Just watched GoT:Welcome to the Kingdom, have understood it a little more now. At least it answered a question I had, I kept thinking Bean was the Hound of the King, then they called that big fella the hound (little brother of the Mountain), now I know he is the Hand.
The big fella is called the Hound isn't he?biggrin
Is also fun to see the two blondies as non-blondsbiggrin

For a non reader of the book, interested to see why they have introduced the chubby lad at the Wall? I presume, as they made such a fuss over his intro, he is going do do something good? Or meet a horrible death lol

He does feature in later partos of the story and in further books.

In the books each chapter is named after a character that is followed in thet chapter. Some have regular chapters, others are infrequent. This guy gets a chapter in book 3 smile

I've pointed Mrs Fubes to the books on Amazon. Looks like we will be buying the set smile

I'm not sure which way round would give most enjoyment. Having read the books it's great knowing the depth of the conniving and sublties fo the relationships. Coming to the books second would fill in the blanks nicely...

I agree. In the past I have had a brilliant book ruined by film. As you say, reading the books will fill the gaps and enhance the story IMO.

Not that I had intended to go down this route. Didn't know anything about film or books but happened to be in LA/Hollywood on holiday for the launch week. Got all the hype and the first episode out there, realised I was in for the long haul smile

Interesting to see Jerome Flynn's (of Soldier Soldier and Robson & Jerome fame) name in the credits for Ep 4. Haven't seen him on TV for years.....

I think he must have been in the final tavern scene - think I caught his face in profile. A quick google shows his character becomes fairly prominent in the next couple if episodes.

I'm reading the book at about the same general pace of the TV show and it's interesting to see just how much of the dialogue is lifted directly from the book. Quite impressed with the fidelity of the book -> screenplay translation so far.

I'm still finding it hard to see Detective Constable Boyle playing the King.

He's come a long way since Viva Rock Vegas.

Jerome Flynn plays Bronn, in the TV show I think he was the one who agreed to give up his room for Tyrion however thats a different but irrelevent character in the books.

Bronn will be very important for the next few episodes, the trailers for which are on youtube from HBO. Looks like another amazing episode, however if Bronn starts singing "Up on a Roof" I will not be impressed!

Do people think that this series is suitable for a 15 year old boy to watch?

His mum finds it uncomfortable watching when he is there and thinks its unsuitable for him.

I can sort of see what she means but think its probably ok.
I personally think it is unsuitable. The language is pretty ripe at times (especialy the "c" word) and whilst he might hear and see worse things on his own, I can understand why your wife doesn't want to be seen to approve him watching things like this.

Great show though, but it is wrong that I have a bit of a soft spot for the dwarf!!?

I picked the book up on a whim around Christmas time last year and started reading it. I then got distracted and it kind of got put aside what with Christmas, drinking and the new year. I'm now reading it again and I'm about 1 episode ahead right now. The TV version has been excellent so far, really capturing the mood and keeping the story flowing. Top stuff. Wish I hadn't put the book down in the first place smile

I think it is suitable for a 15 year old to watch, unless the 15 year old is going to live in an Abbeybiggrin
