Game of Thrones - No spoilers

It's good, not GoT god, but good.
I think the prequel second series is best.

The Wire is good but a bit old.
If you want a smart powerful programme watch Braquo, it's my second favourite programme of this and last year.
It does seem we have very similar taste in drama series - even the obscure ones! The Wire is good but a bit old.

Braquo was great - missed the start of Season 2 on FX though so am waiting for the DVD to catch up.
If we are talking songs from GoT I love this one

I had series one and two lined up ready to watch until my Sky box died last week Braquo was great - missed the start of Season 2 on FX though so am waiting for the DVD to catch up.
Another recommendation from me is Romanzo Criminale, series one of which is just being repeated on Sky Arts. This has guns, boobs and tasty 70's/80's cars

It's not like you can even tell it's George Bush. Looks more like Alice Cooper with that wig on it.http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/game-of-thrones/21674/...
Like you can even tell, a load of waffle over nothing.

Yip, RC is very very good. Another fantastic foreign import, just a star below Braquo.I remember mad Mike Loades doing a series on weapons, he demonstrated the proper sword fighting techniques as well.

That was the most convoluted, waffly article I've ever read, hundreds of words telling you what sword fighting isn't and not what it actually is/was. I'm still none the wiser.Right, apologies if this has been covered before, but I've read the past couple of pages and not seen what I'm on about.
I finished A Clash of Kings a few days ago, and just finished watching all of Series 2 tonight.
I'm pretty hacked off that from Episode 5 the show just seemed to go off the rails really, in that it just made a lot of stuff up.
Robb's love interest? Why did that happen? That wasn't in the book.
Jon running off with the Wilding? Why did that happen? That wasn't in the book.
Deanerys having her dragons stolen? Why did that happen? That wasn't in the book.
Kingslayer being let free by Catelyn and running off with Brienne? Why did that happen? That wasn't in the book.
Arya's storyline didn't go quite as it should have, I was hoping to see The Bloody Mummers in the show, shame they didn't turn up.
Roose Bolton was supposed to have taken Harrenhall and had some of the conversations with Arya that she had with Tywin.
Theon's storyline should have been given more time to develop too, as it was it felt like it was rushed, and his ending just wan't really as it should have been.
I won't even go into the whole Bran/Summer dreams and what not.
I can understand that things had to be changed in order to make it fit into a TV show easily, but the first series stuck to the book almost verbatim, even the script. But series 2 feels like it has been rushed. Salient points glossed over, and things happening without explanation. How did Winterfell get fired eh? In the book its hinted at that a dragon was there, but you knew that it was razed by men of Dreadfort.
Perhaps I should not have read the book first. I didn't read the first book until after I'd seen Series 1.

Keep reading the books. The producers stated that they changed the order of certain events from book 3 to book 2 to make them flow better.
To be honest the books tend to jump around too much for it to make a good TV show. If you read book 3 the stuff that confuses you will make sense.
Personally I think the TV show makes more sense than the books, except for the bits about Dany that isnt in any of the books really.
And killing Roxanne McKee still pisses me off

Some of the points you bring up would have take a lot more telling on screen to do the way they're written so they get us to the same place by a different route.
As Rich points out some of the other stuff is from other books.
I read the books pretty much back to back and watching the TV series after that is great even if the occasional difference does grate a little.

Ah, I see.
I did hear some time ago that they were going to combine books 2 & 3 into Series 2, but given that the majority of things that happened seemed to be from book 2, I assumed they had put a lot of what I ranted about in to make it 'good for TV'.
I'll find out soon enough then when I get the third book.
