I havent played it but from what I have read its a st game with a good story. It wont add much background to the current series of books though.
Ah well, looks like I'm blazing a PH GoT thread trail here! I gather it arrived today so I'll feedback on it in due course. Looks like Cex pay £7 cash for it so, if it's absolutely dire, thw worst case is I'm down by less than £3...

I'm not too bothered whether it actually feeds directly into the books, to be honest,Rich. If it's a decent story in its own right - which by all accounts it is - I can live with that. Games thesedays are as much about the storytelling for me as anything else, anyway.

Given the amount of Jaqen love, this just appeared on a news feed

I'd love a complex game where you take on the role of one if the main characters from S1. And possibly change the story!
Also a multiplayer RTS where you get to control the different armies, like RA2.

I'm just coming to the end of the second book (having watched the second series already) and I quite like some of the changes that they made.

I won't go into detail as people get stressed out with spoilers, but don't think they've compromised the story, for example with Renly.

Really looking forward to S3. I'll be reading the book ahead of watching it this time though.

Unfortunately GRRM isn't the fastest of writers, he took 5 years between books 3 and 4 and 6 years between 4 and 5 so we could be in for a bit of a wait frown And then he has to write book 7...

Can't quite recall... They didn't change much with Renly did they?

I think GoT is an exemplary example of a faithful adaptation.
Makes you wonder why asswipes in Hollywood get it wrong so often.

I didn't think Renly was very different other than the homosexuality was more obvious in the series but it was strongly implied in the books.

The only change that pisses me off is bloody Roz. I realise she's a plot device but she is bloody annoying

What I meant was the lady in red and the birth bit in the books doesn't happen in the TV series. In the book that bit happens to break a siege after what happens to Renly.

So as I was saying, minor change that didn't affect the story.

Oh I see, they cut out that whole siege which was a shame as I thought it added a lot of depth with the kid involved

Apparently.
"The world premiere of the Game of Thrones Season 3 Trailer debuts tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live, airing 11:35PM/10:35PM CT on ABC."

So it'll be on youtube later. biggrin

Off a bit of a tangent but has anyone here tried the Game of Thrones game for Xbox 360/PS3?

I figured I'd take a punt on it and ordered a copy from Amazon on the basis that it was sub £10. The concensus of the reviews there seems to be that the combat system isn't great but it has a very good story, which will be the main draw for fans of the series (like me).

Just wondered whether we have any gamers here who could comment on their own experience?
I played a bit of it on the 360 over a weekend and the gameplay is pretty bad but if you can get through that the story is good and its interesting to see how they have done things in it. Takes a while to pick up as well.

I'm up to Chapter 7 (of 15) now, so I'm a bit more used to the combat system (it's still clunky though) and but the story is pretty engaging.

Worth a look for anyone who is a fan.
