That definitely IS a spoiler. I haven't read the books or watched any interviews, just watched the TV series and now I know something about the content of series five which I didn't before reading your post.
Thanks for nothing. I'm out of this thread if people are are going to post stuff like this.

A spoiler is information posted before an episode has aired on TV and you've told us all that a bunch of characters won't be featured in the series, which is information about the series we wouldn't otherwise have known.
There is another thread going for people who want to swap information they might have gleaned from the books or interviews or anywhere else but this thread is solely for discussing the events of the programmes after they have aired.
No information about what happens to them has been posted.
Ps page 259, it's already been mentioned - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
and p 258 - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=34&...

Halb (or any other book readers), a question for you:
Back during Roberts rebellion, after the battle of the Trident, Rob sent his army with Ned to sack Kings Landing...
And after tricking Aerys Targaryen to open the gates, Tywin Lanister managed to sack the city whilst Ned was still travelling...
So, after Jaime killed the king and Tywin had sacked the city, why didn't Tywin claim the throne?
Did he not have sufficient troops to defend the city against Ned and his men?
Did he have no desire to take the throne?
Would the rest of the 7 Kingdoms have gone ape st and declared war against him for being a sneaky bd?

It was Roberts rebellion and his army. Tywin was an ally of the mad king until things were so obviously going against him. Robert had the backing or had defeated everyone north of Kings Landing, Tywin was just a well placed lord.
Robert was a pretty crap at kinging by all accounts, and might have lost the 7 kingdoms but for the uprising of the Iron islands. That war further galvanised Roberts position, he was an excellent warlord, be just wasn't very good at peace.

HAving read the first book, watched four series and rewatched series one, it's so glaringly obvious how naive and totally out of his depth Ned Stark is. When Cersei offers him (pretty much everything he wanted) a return to Winterfell if he bends the knee with reference to the advice he had given her only a day previous, alarm bells should have been deafening him.

(that was why I didn't think what I said yesterday was a spoiler, but heyho)
The books (as has been mentioned a lot in this thread) have split the stories. As a result we have seen things in the latest episode that hasn't been mentioned in the book. We've heard nothing of their story at all. I just asked if that meant we'd learn more about it this series - in other words, the TV spoiling the books!
I haven't given anything away with regard to storyline. Just as the knowledge that others don't appear this series doesn't give anything away.

thing is though Hodor's and Bran's involvement in S5 has been in the MSM, if you were to look at IMBD you'd also know who was/n't in various seasons surely?
Here's a crazy idea. Maybe some people literally just watch the TV show, and don't go looking at IMDB and the like to find out about who is in the upcoming shows.irocfan said:

And already talked about on here last year. And has absolutely no connection with what happens to them. And I haven't read nor want to read the books. So I haven't a clue what happens. So I'm not going to read any book thread.

Whatever the reasons, it was definitely the right decision. Because Tywin wouldn't have called that wrong.Tywin did make the right decision, Cersei was queen and Lannister/Baratheon children would inherit the throne.

Tywin having the advantage of simply 'waiting it out (a riff on the historical Stanley family 'waiting it out' as Henry Tudor faced Rick 3) then beat Ned to King's Landing by a very short margin. Tywin's forces were allowed into King's Landing without forcing entry/besieging and then turned on the King. I think Tywin was smart enough to know that being King isn't all that, he was the Hand for years and that grants enough power, plus if he'd been tempted he had the armies of Robert, Jon Arryn and Ned to contend with immediately...plus possibly Dorne mobilising with the death of Martells on his hand, he would have gotten smashed pretty quickly. Better to have his daughter marry the new king and have grandkids as monarch.
So that's 5/7 states against him, with the Tyrells an unknown quantity.

Cast member news has always been posted unspoilered, who's playing who, who's in the next series etc.
Exactly - because it doesn't spoil anything No one has said that X & Y aren't in this Season because they are dead; it has been made quite clear that it's because we don't cross their storyline this season.
A spoiler spoils the storyline, it tells you plot details that are going to happen. Eg a Z gets a kitten.
