has George RR taken inspiration from Toledo Steel for his Valerian blades?
I think his main influence there was Damascus steel, which itself was highly valued way back when swords were a necessity.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damascus_steel
"The reputation and history of Damascus steel has given rise to many legends, such as the ability to cut through a rifle barrel or to cut a hair falling across the blade. A research team in Germany published a report in 2006 revealing nanowires and carbon nanotubes in a blade forged from Damascus steel. This finding was covered by National Geographic and the New York Times. Although certain types of modern steel outperform these swords, chemical reactions in the production process made the blades extraordinary for their time, as Damascus steel was superplastic and very hard at the same time."

...starting to feel that Brienne was a waste of Jamies sword, especially with Tywin dead. She's like a straight A* high school student who chose Art as her degree and is now regretting it with a job that barely matters and she doesn't even want anymore. Has it been mentioned in the books at this stage what happened to Geoffrey's (shorter?) sword?
I love the fact that she is one of the few truly decent people, yet ends up making all the wrong decisions. Plus she is a badass fighter, yet it rather clumsy in every other aspect of her life. I'd like things to turnout OK for her, but I don't think they will. I can't recall if Joff's sword is mentioned again. The story in KIng's Landing will probably reach or overtake it's book counterpart this year, and King's Landing gets quite crazy this series.

Is there a better sword than a Valaryan blade? The Morningstar? I've only read the first book but was of the impression that it was a badass blade due to it's origins and probably abnormal composition making it above normal steel, but Valaryan steel has always seemed the sharpest/strongest ever seen from what I've read.
Yeah a VS blade is the best tech that is acquirable (though the ability to make is lost, like Damascus steel above), but I was thinking of a fella from the books, who may be in the show or not. THere is a fella who owns a great sword (like Ice) which was made from a meteorite, also, centuries ago. It's a one-off, and I think George has written that one on one, the blade will give the edge....actually Joff may have read mentioned his name when he read from the book of the Kingsguard when he was taunting Jaime..I can't recall. edit. Just took a quick look at the wiki page. The 'Fallen Star'/meteorite sword shares the same properties as a Valyrain Blade, it has all it's own look though, it's sort of white.

Ser Arthur Dayne, very cool backstory to him edit. Just took a quick look at the wiki page. The 'Fallen Star'/meteorite sword shares the same properties as a Valyrain Blade, it has all it's own look though, it's sort of white.

Agreed - she's always a complete wet blanket - I had hoped for her to MTFU as she showed signs of that after Lysa (Bitty) Arryn was killed at the Eyrie, but she's revert to type again now.
What??? She's wearing dark clothes now man, she's "dark"!RoadRunner220 said:

Sorry but cant cope with the dopey "Leighton" from Trollied being in GOT !
I found out today that the actor who plays Bronn is Jerome, from Robson and Jerome fame. Now the next time I see him in GOT all that I'm going to have in my head is Unchained Melody !!!!Just thought, Mark Addy, also from Trollied was in it as well, just needs Gareth now...
