I'm sure she'd have refused sex if she felt she could, so in that sense yes it's rape.

However, in the GoT universe, marriage is consummated on the wedding night
This was also our universe until the 1990s.

Hard to believe, but this was the prevalent attitude in 1984.

"The Criminal Law Revision Committee in their 1984 Report on Sexual Offences rejected the idea that the offense of rape should be extended to marital relations; writing the following:
"The majority of us ... believe that rape cannot be considered in the abstract as merely 'sexual intercourse without consent'. The circumstances of rape may be peculiarly grave. This feature is not present in the case of a husband and wife cohabiting with each other when an act of sexual intercourse occurs without the wife's consent. They may well have had sexual intercourse regularly before the act in question and, because a sexual relationship may involve a degree of compromise, she may sometimes have agreed only with some reluctance to such intercourse. Should he go further and force her to have sexual intercourse without her consent, this may evidence a failure of the marital relationship. But it is far from being the 'unique' and 'grave' offence described earlier. Where the husband goes so far as to cause injury, there are available a number of offences against the person with which he may be charged, but the gravamen of the husband's conduct is the injury he has caused not the sexual intercourse he has forced."

Nonsense, she went to Winterfell knowing full well she was to be married and bedded. She didn't have to go to Winterfell.
Quite.

Originally GoT's willingness to kill, maim and debase its leading characters was refreshing, but recently it's become so perpetually dark that hope is starting to ebb out of the story.

Unless there is some light to balance the dark hope it becomes pointless watching. There must be some respite to the depression.

So far Aya has done…nothing. John Snow has done…bugger all. Sansa..well we all know about the predicament she's got herself into. Dragon girl's having a tough time of it. Where's the story to root for?

Time to off a baddie I say.
GoT may not be for you then... hehe

...After saying that....one of the prospective titles for one of the later books is... A Time for Wolves, make of that what you will. biggrin

She could have refused. Littlefinger didn't force her to the city. They had a chat well away where he gave her the option, and he wasn't implying any doom if she said no.

We haven't seen Bran, Hodor, the 3 eyed raven or the children of the forest yet this season.
What's happened to Rickon & Osha? They've not been around for a couple of seasons now.
Yeah pleased about that. Not keen on that subplot at all

Anyone else hear Roger Waters when Jamie Lannister sings "Closer to Home"?

Knowing her luck, probably Final Destination style just as Brienne walks in.

It is more than consent, she made a conscious choice to be in that room on that night with that man. She can't even claim to be duped into thinking he was loving and caring. She has known all along what he and his family were like. She put herself in that situation when she first chose to side with Carcetti at that hearing even after watching him murder her aunt.

You can't walk into a pit of snakes and then claim that you don't consent to being bitten.
That doesn't mean it's not rape.
True, it is her consent which does that.

I assumed the Faceless Men take in those close to death, they give themselves over to the many faced God and their heads can be used by the Faceless Men.

Yeah. Bravoos is a very equal place. The House of B&W is a place anyone can go when they need a release from the world.

My only problem with this...... why did Arya have to sit outside waiting for days (as far as we know seeing no one go in or out) when anyone else can just wander in?
Is there a side door?

I must say, the uproar around the Sansa scene, certainly shows how many media luvvies have jumped on the bandwagon. No one seemed to bat even so much as an eyelid, when Jamie Lannister was merrily hanging out the back of his Sister. coffee
