Just a quick question - The old woman that was flayed, I know it was the woman who spoke to Sansa, but was it just some random woman or was it Old Nan? Did we ever find out what happened to Old Nan?

It was a random Northerner from WIntertown.
Nan is mentioned again, I guess she expired a while back...or was flayed with the rest of Winterfell by Ramsay back in series 3.

Enjoyed last nights show, I can't help to root for the 'goodies' even in GoT - seeing Brienne standing ominously at Winterfell (did I see a feint candle light?) made me cheer - I'd love to she her tear into Ramsay would be great - he really is building up to being the great end of season kill.

Not sure if Bronn made the wisest of choices drinking that 'antidote' so, they tried to kill him, so they poisoned him, are you really going to trust them that she's giving you a antidote and not the fatal version of the milder stuff he got from her sword?

I suppose you'd always grab a lifeline, even if it is being held by an enemy. Even more so if the enemy had a cracking set of norks!

I don't know whether to love or hate the High Sparrow.
It's because he's a socialist. biggrin With wildlings potentially comming south of the wall, rabble rousing commoners in Kings Landing and Queen Emancipate the Slaves across the water, I can see the days of kings being numbered, tbh.

I said after last weeks episode all the have to do is murder the witness. No witness no fair trial. And the faithful seem to love their rules. This week little finger confirmed it when he said he would give her the boy or something can't remember exactly what he said but I took it as he would tell her how to get at the witness my only surprise is olenna didn't dob in the incest to the faithful
Ahh, I hadn't thought of that.
I thought he was referencing Lancel, but that didn't really make sense as we already knew that Lancel had told the Sparrow everything, so we know that the Sparrow was imply biding his time till he was strong enough to get Cersei. And Cersei did all his groundwork for him biggrin

Good episode on the whole. Cersei's being a little unrealistically nieve for me. Hubris plays a part but I can't think off too many times she's seen outside the castle without being flanked by at least a couple of lannister guards. The result would have been the same I guess.

I would have thought she'd have had Lancel off'd too once he became a religious fanatic holding a bit too much damaging information and lost her control on him.

Every Septon thus far has been a selfish power hungry man who plays the political game, plus at the start of the series the church had zero power. Even the Queen of Thorns, a far more astute and skilled player than Cersei has completely misunderstood the motivations of the new Septon/Sparrow, because he has been born out of the high lords playing their silly games. Makes me wonder if the High Sparrow will be connected to Varys somehow....

I have to say...those norks were first rate....that audition scene would have been rather cool. biggrin

I do whatever that lady said without question.

He was probably going to die anyway so it was worth the risk.

Yes Thats how how read it sparrows end game was higher. It reminds me of children of dune. All schemes and politics. I'm still terrible with names but I'm loving the characters and sub plots.

I can't see how she didn't realise what could happen? Her cousin/nephew/whatever who she not only slept with but who knows all about her incest and bd children, is a member of a fanatical group she's trying to grease up and use for her own gain?

It just seems really uncharacterful of her to make a mistake like that, I dunno...

The northern storyline interests me the most as always - how the whole Free Folk / Nights Watch / Stannis / Bolton arc will unfold..

I think she's mistaken the High Sparrow's motives, like Lady Olenna.

How do you combat those objectives? Send in a troop of Kings Guard to slay them all while ruining is name at the same time?

Can't imagine Jaime would be too happy if he found out. Not that he could do much even if he was free I suppose.

Tywin told Cersei that she wasn't as clever as she thought she was and it looks like he's been proved right.

I thought for a moment that Reek/Theon might tell Sansa that he didn't kill her brothers and take the candle to the tower but once again he showed himself to be a weak and broken man. I still hold out some hope that Ramsay Bolton meets a nasty end though.

As with any good story arc it's starting to show a few cracks now.

The king has access to any number of gold cloaks, army etc ready to clean out these fanatics, so why doesn't he? I appreciate he is a little meek, but he can't be that far removed from his brother (loon), his mum (crafty), his father (swordsman) etc. Are we really expected to believe that the city would be like it is now so soon after the death of Tywin Lannister.

We keep seeing important characters walking around Kingslanding with just one or two guards to protect them!!! With these religious nutters burning and looting everywhere wouldn't they be a little better protected?

Surely the 'would be' king Beratheon would have planned out his supply lines a little better, before heading off into whatever storm happens to blow his way? I know he has the witch to believe in, but not reckoning on a storm in the NORTH!!

The dragon Queen seems to have just parked up and decided to get married!! What's all that about... there was no stopping her conquering city after city in season 4, but now she's practically got her slippers on!

And the wolf that was there one minute and gone the next was all a little strange for me.

Don't get me wrong, it's still entertaining, but just not as much as season 4.

This article has mild spoilers for what the next few episodes.

And that is what makes this season so much better than the books. The first 3 books were great - the last 2 were very dull, hence 2000 pages fitting into 8-9 episodes with some new stuff (from Winds of Winter) in the season finale. The first half of ADWD (500+ pages) was covered by about 15minutes screen time spread over the last couple of episodes.

One thing from the books that I feel should have been left in is Ser Loras assault on Dragonstone
