I don't recall it being mentioned they had one, the Baratheons weren't the top family from Storm's End way back.
In the show there has been four blades mentioned. LOngclaw, Littlefinger's dagger, Brienne's sword,Joffrey'sTommen's sword.
I also recall from the books that Sam's dad had one, Heartsbane.
Seems in the books, Tyrion mentioned there are 200 blades on the continent.
THis article reckons though that dragonglass and VS won't matter. The Thenn mentioned that dragonglass is abundant north of the wall.

a word of warning here - if you read GoT on the vanityfair site (and it is interesting) you WILL come across spoilers... go on, ask me how I know In the show there has been four blades mentioned. LOngclaw, Littlefinger's dagger, Brienne's sword,

I’m more worried by the fact that we saw the White Walker not only be invulnerable to fire, he actually put it out with his presence, will this affect the dragons?
There was four of them wasn't there? And a piddling lil hut fire? I think dragonflame would be a bit harsher to stand up to.I don't remember it being covered nor have I read far enough in the books to provide a spoiler (I've only read the first two so far), but my guess is that it's 'cold' enough to shatter steel, similar to liquid nitrogen. Valyrian steel is forged in dragon fire, so 'fire-y' enough to stand up to it?

I can't see it in the wiki that his weapon is revealed

Because posting about the episode is a spoiler
Who has what blade, isn't spoiling anything, in that there are no plot details being given away.
To you it may not be, to me posting something from a book that hasn't yet been in the show is a spoiler. If people want to discuss what happens in the book, use a book thread. I don't want to know who has what sword apart from what has been revealed in the show so far. Especially when we are discussing swords which can kill a white walker, which may become relevant later in the show. Who has what blade, isn't spoiling anything, in that there are no plot details being given away.

Sorry!ali_kat said:
Just the one walking through the Hut before he fought the Thenn & Jon smashed him to smithereens
But four in the vicinity, I see them as drawing on each other for strength.ali_kat said:
Point taken & I'll try to remember ; although I'm not the only one to post those details and tried hard to ensure there were no plot details in what I posted; IIRC it was been mentioned a few times when discussing Ice and Longlaw that there are a few swords around as the few noble Houses who still possess them treasure them greatly.
Cheers. If it's from a book just pop it in a spoiler tag seems a fair compromise. I know they don't work for everyone but it's not like it happens very often. PeteB0 said:

It's not forged in dragonfire, just specially made.Spanna said:
Not sure if it has been covered so, why was the White Walker's weapon able to disintegrate the Thenn's weapon and other things?
I know that Dragonglass and Valyrian steel isn't vulnerable to it, but why was the other stuff?
When WW appear, the place gets colder. People don't know if it's the WW that make the cold, or if they can go where it gets colder. THey are so cold themselves that stuff shatters if it touches them. stty wilding steel would shatter like it's liquid nitrogen. I know that Dragonglass and Valyrian steel isn't vulnerable to it, but why was the other stuff?
The books don't offer many answers on a lot of things. A lot of stuff in inferred. The show has explicitly shown some things (proved theories) the books have not. Within two episodes there won't be anything (I think) that is book special knowledge.

To be honest, I don't think that was in the show. However to prevent bickering I'm going to step out of the thread now and not return as what some don't consider spoiler would end up ruining the show for me.
Happy GoT'ing people
I'm very sorry that you feel like that, as I did check that it wasn't a spoiler before I posted it Happy GoT'ing people
To me, a spoiler contains details of what is to happen in the plot, and I'm not the only one that thinks who owns which sword is a spoiler, as I'm not the only one to have posted it (just the only one that is online atm & now feels guilty)
Please could you explain how we can answer questions like that? Because putting it in spoilers doesn't always work (which is why I checked the book wiki against the show wiki before posting) and directing people that haven't read the books to the book thread would give away so many secrets they'd never need to watch the show again

I do feel very bad that my best efforts to help someone else have made you think I've given away spoilers (especially after yesterday! )
just read the last few pages and i have come to the conclusion that i am odd in the way i relate to the show / books.
i have read all the books, and yet I have not watched a single episode from this series yet, because the wife wants to watch them on catch up on now tv when they are all available.
i still come in here and read all the comments here, spoilers and all as I seem to have a morbid fascination as to how the tv show is diverging from the books and when it doesn't.
don't think i've posted any spoilers
