Holy st, how is that not the same person?! Jesus, I'm having a full on Busey/Nolte moment here!

Alright, I'm going to go back under my rock and be quiet now. But I know that I'm not the only one who finds this all confusing, I'm just daft enough to ask the questions that others aren't!

Another thing, has Tommen dismissed all his Kings gaurd now or is it just new armor? The faith in the past did have nobles/knights commit to the cause.

As mental as that would be they can't just pick someone, they have to agree.

A lot of people's opinions on the storylines of Samwell and Ayra are saying they're irrelevant and boring. They're imperative to the story! Sam has just stolen a Valryian greatsword, a similar size to what Ned Stark's was and that became two rather handy Valyrian steel swords. Sam heading to the Citadel to become a maester might mean he tries to learn about the 'higher mysteries' and gain that link on his chain. He may learn other secrets of the Citadel and other maesters whilst there too.

Meanwhile Ayra has learned how to kill people quietly. She can return to Westeros with these skills and continue her list. I'd love to hear her chant the list before the season is done! Hopefully the waif makes an entry to it as well.

I would have to agree.

All the signs are that both Sam and Arya are very important to the future of the story. Sam due to his location (when he reaches the citadel) and Arya due to who she is and what she might do.

Neither of their storylines has been particularly riveting these past season or so, but you cant just leave them out as people will wonder where the hell they came from in later seasons.

In terms of Arya I think the play scenes and her reactions were very interesting. As was her choice not to become no-one and not kill the actress. All the rest could have been covered more by a longer montage.

That was just the normal kingsguard armour wasn't it?

Cracking episode I thought. Seemed long too, I put it on about 11:30 and kept thinking 'bloody hell, another scene!' (in a good way!)

Loved Sam taking the sword and doing a runner, his dad really is a horrid bloke. Just wish he'd have spoken up at the dinner table about killing the WW etc.

Definitely think High Sparrow has Tommen in the palm of his hand, the way he was looking at Jaime as if to say 'checkmate', and the constant look of uncertainty and nervousness on Tommen's face.. No idea what Marg's game is though, she'll either come out on top or end up dead IMO, there won't be a middle ground.

Nice to see some returning characters too. Actually the opening scene I thought was brilliant, the rapid flashbacks, the dead closing in through the forest then Benjen rocking up with his flaming ball and chain, really good scene.

I'm still struggling to maintain interest in Dany's events if I'm honest... I like her character, but her whole plot has just dragged a little, she's been across Essos and back 10 times now, just get to Westeros already! laugh

Also somewhat happy that Arya has made a move, if she wasn't going to commit and follow through with the faceless peeps then at least she's got her sword back and is moving on, she was at her best when she was travelling around with the Hound..

Does the Citadel lie en route between Meereen and Westeros?

Nah, the Citidel is on the West Coast, near Tarly's home...and close by to the Iron Islands.

Upgraded to religious fanastic level 10+. I never twigged it till after reading something and my second viewing. biggrin

Assuming the Night King can't now follow him everywhere it would be pretty awesome being Bran in winterfell with your own weirwood tree, unlimited hot water and a xragon landing pad.

Glad Arya's on the run, her time with the faceless men turned one of the most exciting characters into one of the most boring. I can see the Waif screwing up by trying to make her suffer and getting a needle in the throat.

It's also interesting to see how Tyrion has been villified in the Essos play, would explain why he's so distrusted by the common people.

Really don't know what Sam is playing at taking the family sword, unless he's going to melt it down/become a master/maester blacksmith making weapons to fight the WW- assuming his Dad lets him live that long!
A big assumption! biggrin
When Arya started on her Faceless man stuff, I never envisaged she'd jack it all in! But I guess the gloating will be the waif's undoing, she likes to do that...this'll be a test for her as much as Arya. biggrin

I am wondering how Sam escapes...daddy and bro are top hunters.

I wasn't bored, but it felt like another filler episode. There really seems to be more filler episode than not this season.

Is Sam actually going to have time to do / learn anything useful at the Citadel? I'm assuming that to become a maester isn't a 2 day course, and winter is coming..

I was wondering why he took the sword? If he'd just left without it, his daddy would be well chuffed.
Now he's going to come and find him surely.

The sword is Valyrian steel, one of very few known ones, also one of the very few materials that can kill White Walkers.

To me it felt like the first filler episode this season, and I still think it felt rushed!

Sam may not have time to become a genius, but he's been sent there to learn only one thing- how to make weapons to defeat the whitewalkers. He already knows that dragonglass kills them, and that dragon stone is full of the stuff.

He also has a valerian blade with him, which they surely suspect is significant after Jons WW encounter. It was made using spells and the blacksmiths since have only been able to recast it- everyone knows it cant be made in useful quantities anymore. I'm not sure the Maesters even make their own links, thwy may simply be recast.

But we've seen that magic has started working again since the rebirth of dragons. Maester Luwwin said that only 1 in 100 maesters even bothered learning the Higher Mysteries, now looks a pretty good time to revisit them.

Am I the only one thinking that Ayra knows how to fight in the dark (blind) and now has a sword which means if waif comes knocking............

I think the High Sparrow will choose a certain brother of a queen as his Champion............ That would spice it up a touch between the old queen and the new one would it not!!?

I wondered if they'd choose Ser Loras as their champion. When Margaery spoke to him he 'just wanted it to end' or something along them lines. It certainly would up against the mountain!

The Citadel is in Oldtown, South west corner of Westros in the Tyrrell controlled Reach.

Yeah the new guys had the seven pointed star on the breastplate while Jamie had the traditional crown.
