Just watched A Good Day to Die Hard. How the mighty have fallen. 4 was not great but this was a new level of s
te. Utterly unengaging. Everyone was thoroughly unlikeable and the action scenes were bizarrely dull.
V poor.
Though not as utterly unwatchable as The man with the Iron Fist. Now I love my chop-socky cheestastic martial art films, Jackie Chan being a bit of a hero of mine. This abomination of a film by the director Rza (who jointly shares with McG the title of the stupidist name in history) should have been destroyed at concept. 20 mins in and I was so angry it had wasted so much of my time. Awful.

I refuse to even consider it a Die Hard film - it's a Bruce WIllis direct to DVD movie where the character just happens to share the same name. How could it possible be one when he doesn't have one single fist fight in the entire movie? In fact, did he even suffer even the slightest injury?te. Utterly unengaging. This is the one with the Japanese theme? If so, I watched it over the weekend - utter tosh. Crap story, uninteresting script and the action was mediocre. Waste of 2 hours.My God, how bad!

Skipped forward a bit to see if I was missing anything and it looks as though they never leave the one location for the whole film?!
Utter pants. I VERY rarely turn off a film before it finishes.

Very few people seem to like it but I love Only God Forgives; it was one of my favourite films last year. I went into it expecting slow and arty, which probably helped. I thought the visuals were beautiful, and the characters are brilliant because they are all so utterly despicable.Kristin Scott Thomas absolutely steals the show as his vile mother. Apparently she struggled to play the part because it is so dark but she is superb, imo.
"You wanna fight" just a classic line, out of Ten I would say a 5 not good but not bad either
Wasn't really sure which thread to put this in but put Zero Dark Thirty on at the weekend and thought it was average at best but I'm probably leaning to the lower end of the rating so put it here.
The raid itself was good but the build up to it was far too long and aimless, brought no real insight and seemed to offer no opinion on the techniques employed by the US Government.
Up until the raid there was no tension or drama, and some of blatant signposting of what was going to happen actually made us laugh out loud at one point. That might be acceptable in Eastenders but not in a film like this.
Cut the first two hours out and you'd have a pretty good short film.
The raid itself was good but the build up to it was far too long and aimless, brought no real insight and seemed to offer no opinion on the techniques employed by the US Government.
Up until the raid there was no tension or drama, and some of blatant signposting of what was going to happen actually made us laugh out loud at one point. That might be acceptable in Eastenders but not in a film like this.
Cut the first two hours out and you'd have a pretty good short film.

I'm hoping I'll enjoy it as a result as I like Ryan Goslings work.

As I said above about Only God Forgives - I didn't like the hurt locker one bit. I found it to be very patronising and simplistic in its depiction of the mental side of war. But I went in expecting something else.
Knowing that zero dark thirty was by the same director I was more prepared - I went in fully expecting a slow and more psychological portrait of the events in the film rather than focusing on the action (if there was any in the first place). Again, I enjoyed it more as a result.
Like jarhead did well in depicting the boredom, zero dark thirty did well in showing the exhausting time delays in anything actually happening - the gathering of evidence (or lack thereof), the politics within congress, the politics within the military and the constant confrontation between those 3 letter agencies.
And although I didn't get a hard-on about it like most of the critics did when it was released, I still think it was a good film. 7/10 from me.
I put van helsing on last night - it was silly and I wanted to enjoy it but I fell asleep - Hugh Jackman just didn't seem right for the role and Carl, his sidekick, was a bit too much like "Q" from Bond for my liking.
The proposed "reboot" starring Tom Cruise sounds excruciating
After an hour or so, it seemed to be finishing but there was ages left to go and the film just dragged.
It really seemed like an attempt to jam in as many horror things as possible with a ton of CGI.
I've since read up on it and there clearly was a LOT of plot after I dozed off that I missed which, given where the film seemed to be going, seemed to be escessive.
Too much, too long, too confusing, too overdone.

What a waste of 94 minutes, the funniest parts were the out-takes at the end, I knew it was going to be crap but the missus wanted to watch it, it didn't even meet my lowly expectations, it was garbage, which is a shame as the tv show can be funny at times.

1.) Tax dodge? Somebody needed to write off some money and chose to make a film where the writer was already dead?

The Musketeers movies of Richard Lester are genius. You can never do any better. Do not even try.

Loved the first one but this was just.... well dull.
1.) Clearly someone had said "guns are bad mkah?", which in a country where firearms are as common as head lice makes it seem remarkable that a gang of SUPERVILLIANS could only seem to get there hands on stabbing weapons at the end. So despite showing Hit Girls lair with all the H&Ks dotted about the wall and the fact that in the first one, she charged into the final battle with Glocks strapped to virtually every inch of her body, we can see her cut someone hands off but not shoot them. Note, that after the only real use of weapons in the film, she states she uses a cops gun.
2.) Hit Girls lair? Where was it? Who's going to be looking after it now? Maybe she sold all the guns to a drug dealer, so she had some money to live on now she has left home with no job and a Ducati to bring up. And how did she afford the custom paint job Ducati in the first place without drawing attention from her COP step-dad?
3.) Step-Dad? Worst. Cop. Evah.
4.) So much of the violence occurring off screen or hidden. Carreys final execution, Night b
h's assault and MFs death all were wimped out on in a way the first film would never have done. To save money or to appease the censors?5.) Johnston and Moretz just looked bored, first poor performance I've seen from her.
The first one was no compromise, this was clearly built to order.

Tedious, I'm afraid to say. Franchise killer. 3/10.

Milla was just going through the motions, doing her 'Alice' role from the RE films - almost everything was terrible in the film.
And the end, when you see hundreds of CGI air-balloon three decked warships - I know that building just one of these ships could almost bankrupt a nation - but I guess in the wonderful world of CGI, none of that really matters...
The Keep on Film 4. So tediously slow paced with an appalling sound track by Tangerine Dream.
The only decent acting scenes were between Jürgen Prochnow as a cynical German army Captain and Gabriel Byrne playing a Nazi Sturmbannführer. Even those were somewhat stereotypical though.
Perhaps it could have been a decent horror movie if someone other than Michael Mann had directed it.
