I just watched the second Hobbit file. The desolation of Smaug. At the end, even my young son said "Is that it?". Blatant money making exercise and incredibly boring.

Interesting. I thought it better than An Unexpected Journey.

A shame that With the success of TV series such as A Game of Thrones, The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings would not have been better suited to that format rather than the movies.

The Keep on Film 4. So tediously slow paced with an appalling sound track by Tangerine Dream.

The only decent acting scenes were between Jürgen Prochnow as a cynical German army Captain and Gabriel Byrne playing a Nazi Sturmbannführer. Even those were somewhat stereotypical though.

Perhaps it could have been a decent horror movie if someone other than Michael Mann had directed it.
I don't think it's ever been released on DVD because Mann distanced himself from it, but I have to say I'm still curious to see it. War seems like the ideal background for a horror film but very few seem to do it effectively

The DVD is available through Amazon or EBay. Not worth paying for though in my opinion.

Deathwatch made in 2020 however is well worth a watch. Check it out.

'In the middle of World War I, nine British soldiers caught behind enemy lines seek refuge in a complex network of German trenches. What they soon discover is that they aren't alone...and it isn't a German soldier that's hunting them down.
- Written by Cella Fella.'

I watched that recently, a real oddity.

The soundtrack completely mullers it.

Fair enough, although I'm pretty certain Deathwatch wasn't made with time travelling technology wink

Below is a good film that manages a creepy atmosphere without resorting to gore or jump scares, and Outpost isn't bad either. Dog Soldiers is awesome, but not a true horror film

Just watched the aviator. I really can't see what the fuss is about, it was overlong and the while film seemed "flat".

Very boring - The gold statue bit:Really? What the actual fk was anyone thinking?

I despair at how the battle of the five armies will be done as it only got a slight mention in the book. The next film has to cover killing smaug AND the battle of the 5 armies AND Bilbo's journey home. Oh and fit in the utterly pointless love story.

New transformers thingie... "age of extinction"
Wow, that was bad, really really bad, terrible...

I liked pacific rim, (which was pretty bad), but the plot of "rim" makes more sense than "age".. something about knights? I didn't have a clue what was going on.

And all the robot smashing was just boring after a while. 160 minutes!!!!! jesus wept...

Do not waste your time.

That last film sounds like The Bunker.

Pity I missed The Keep as I haven't seen it for ages. Michael Mann liked his Tangerine Dream soundtracks and moody style back then. The original Manhunter film is just the same.

wtf?! It's brilliant. DiCaprio owns eccentric HH, Cate Blanchett oozes style as Hepburn and even Baldwin is good as the suave villain. The visuals are stunning too.

It's worth watching just for Blanchett's Herburn imo; she's mesmerising.
Interesting film.

I too thought it was a bit meh as all I could see was DiCaprio playing a role - then it got to the bit with the Congressional Hearing - Boom! Superb acting and then he was HH.

I'm not normally snobby about films (especially since I like some really crap ones) but, with the exception of "The Rock", all of Michael Bay's films seem to be targeted at simpletons.

In the name of the king

Just don't.

Ever.

I saw it on netflix, noticed it had Jason Statham, Ron Perlman, Claire Forlani and Ray Liotta, amongst others, so presumed it would be ok. I knew it wasn't an award winner but thought it can't be too bad, right?

Wrong.

It's so apocalyptically bad in every way imaginable that, even with a bottle of wine inside me, I could even finish watching it.

Avoid at ALL costs.

If you fancy having a laugh, follow my link to IMDB and read the public reviews. Most are 1/10. The director must have really good social links in Hollywood because despite all reviews referencing the directors stuff as atrocious he STILL managed to convince the studios to make 2 sequels. fking shockingly terrible.

1/10

... and only the single point because of Ron Perlman and Claire Forlani, otherwise it would be a big fat ZERO.

AVOID!

In my defence, me lord, I didn't check the director till after about 15 minutes of watching it. Upon discovering it was Ewe Boll I was so ashamed that if someone offered me the opportunity to commit seppuku, I would have taken it.

Luckily no one did and I also had the option of turning it off, expunging it from my memory and making it my life goal to warn others not to make the same mistake as I did!

Christ it was terrible!

22 Jump Street

I enjoyed 21 but this was tosh, they were so busy taking the ironic piss out of sequels and tell lame double entendres about being gay / bromances they forgot to tell a story or be funny

A couple of laughs in the whole 2 hours

2/10
