I am a father of a 6yr old so I get to see a fair amount of kids films. Most are fairly decent, Despicable Me, Monsters University, The Lego Movie etc.

However, we went to see Earth to Echo this afternoon after seeing the trailer several weeks ago. Dire. Really dire. It tries to be a modern-age ET crossed with The Goonies but the plot takes massive unexplained leaps, and doesn't make you care about the 3 main characters - there isn't enough build-up until they launch into the main story.

And then the sickly message at the end of the film, basically saying people can remain friends despite being separated by hundreds of miles. Puke.

Pish from start to finish. 0/10.

As a recent subscriber to Netflix, I too have to agree, In the name of the King was dire, especially the guy that played exactly the same character in scream...

BUT I HAVE WORSE! UFO.

Watched the other night, Van Damme and Sean Pertwee on the list.
What a dud, took ages to start, a cross between Independence day, 28 Days Later and Buck Rodgers.
Bizzare intergalactic space fight over a field that was totally unneeded and an ending that showed they were all bored by then.

0.5/10 One of those "I'll never get those 120 minutes back" films.

On the plane flying to the States, I watched "Need for speed" the biggest pile of tosh since "torque". The film had more holes than a sieve, the acting was bad in so many ways.

There was no saving grace at all

Enders Game. 2/10

Spent the whole time watching waiting for something good and epic to happen. But it didn't deliver.

2 points for CGI only.

I didn't know it was based on a book, and as such most probably got lost from paper to screen.
If the film had been half decent I may have picked up a copy and read it. but if the book is anything like the film I've no desire to do so

Need For Speed - Quite how they can make a film about road racing boring I have no idea. Terrible acting, a plot with more holes than a fishnet stocking, the cars appearing to be doing about 50. So many WTF moments.
Utter garbage 1/10 for the cars.

Not this weekend but last

The new transformers. God it was awful.

Annoying stuff like being Beijing one minute and HK the next and Optimus being close to death in one scene then fresh as a button the next. The 3D gave me such a chronic headache that I missed what the whole dinosaur robot thing was about... and I spend the whole movie thinking why doesn't Mark Wahlberg bust out of his "inventor" cover and be the shooty marine commander again.

Only later, when I IMDB'd the film did I realise Mark wasn't in the last three! He was just too similar to that guy for my money. Besides, Wahlberg trying to play genius mad professor? Complete balls. The actor who played his daughter was so wooden she was a fire risk.

I dunno, maybe it was the headache. Don't normally go for 3D but ended up in one as there wasn't another choice by that time. Thought it would be ok, but nope! They really need to stop with post processing films into 3D because its complete garbage. But the film just seemed incoherent, a bunch of loosely related events strung along by a series of explosions and shouting. I know Bay isn't exactly excellent, but I think even for him, this was a turd.

Edit to add: I forgot about the painfully crowbarred in product placements! I don't mind placements as it can add to the reality, but these things were literally slapping you in the face!

22 Jump Street

I enjoyed 21 but this was tosh, they were so busy taking the ironic piss out of sequels and tell lame double entendres about being gay / bromances they forgot to tell a story or be funny

A couple of laughs in the whole 2 hours

2/10
Yeah. At first you go along with it, its quite funny. But then you realise that is literally all the ammunition they had and they're going to keep using it over and over for the next 2 hours. Should have been a straight to DVD.

Tomorrow night we were going to watch Santa With Muscles (yes its real, stars Hulk Hogan) for bad movie night. But we have the lego movie on BR and everyone wants to watch that, so Santa will have to wait.

Divergent. Avoid! Avoid!

The trailer makes it look like a normal sci-fi buy it's not. It's another teen girl film, basically a rip off of The Hunger Games but worse (didn't think that would be possible)

0/10. Turned off after 20mins.
