and forgive me if I'm wrong, but when has a Supercharged engine given off turbo waste noises as the Mustang did in the film? I know the charger whine sound, but wasn't aware it made a 'ptshh' sound on throttle off?
Well, technically a turbocharger is just a supercharger that is driven by an exhaust turbine rather than directly, so there's no reason why a supercharger couldn't have excess boost that needed to be vented but it's far less of an issue.

Left Behind

Just fking shoot yourself rather than watch this crap, it made Lucy look like a good film.

Actually, claim your virgins by strapping a bomb to yourself and taking out the entire cast a production crew too, it's that bad.

Dark Star. I first saw that film back in the 70's It seemed better then than it is now. Barry Norman once said it "Was made at a cost of nothing in someone's garage."

Thirty minutes in. I'd had enough of this film.

My kids have been watching "Nativity" and "Nativity 2" - my God these films are a whole world of utter bks.

My daughter is going to see "Nativity 3" next weekend - I have declined to go.

In fact, I hold that same opinion of most Christmas films.

Apart from "A Muppet Christmas Carol" - that's awesome.

I never watched in when I was a kid (late 70's/early 80's) and tried to watch it about 5 years ago based on recommendations on here.

You made it far further into the movie than I did.

There is some kind of test which is explained, which she failed and isnt explained, this girl then spends the next 2 hours getting beaten the crap out of, and hiding the fact shes a "divergent". ergh dont waste your time.

Mud
Thought this was worth a watch from the glowing praise it got on release (and 98% on Rotten Tomatoes) but I'm out of tune with the masses again. It picked up towards the end but it was too late for me. I'd already lost interest. I found it mostly tedious and, as is the fashion these days, way too long.

For some reason, when a film claims to portray youth it usually means dreary sentimentality. My youth was a lot more fun and exciting. I don't recall anybody raising a smile in this whole film.

It was well made but just too slow and witless for me.

5/10.

Perhaps that didn't help, but the film has been widely lauded and it seems unlikely all film reviewers are from Alabama. smile

Being poor or going through tough times doesn't necessarily mean misery, and not all the characters were struggling.

I really enjoyed Mud - think I gave it 8/10 on the other thread

August: Osage County

god this was painful, an adaptation of an acclaimed play with an incredible cast, but Streep's character is such a bh, and it is so relentlessly negative it made the film a real effort to watch. An effort that lasted about 45 mins before I gave up, and I deserve a bloody Oscar for resilience

X-Men First Class

This got 4.5 out of 5 on Rotten Tomatoes so I thought it would be worth a watch last night as the missus was out.
I've not watched any of the other X-Men films (and after this I don't intend to) so was coming at it without any prior knowledge. Found it incredibly tedious. If you make mutants have huge power, then the fight/battle scenes are boring, because you know what is going to happen. The CGI-fest at the end was unrealistic (i know...) and i didn't want any of the characters to survive by then.

Only line that made me smile was right at the end ("I know, I'll be going bald next!")

Not even a good popcorn movie

Hall Pass - Two blokes get a week off from marriage to whatever they want.
It's exactly what you expect the two bloke are incompetent oiks the wives are attractive and intelligent. We got the drug cliché the chatting up younger women cliché the massage parlour cliché the angry boyfriend cliché the friend who's a player cliché and the embarrassing misunderstanding cliché. At the end everyone realises they are better off together.
2/10 because I laughed at a couple of individual jokes.

13 Assassins

WTF! Watched the first 30/35 minutes before turning it off and just thought whist being a bit bizarre and having ridiculously fast subtitles it was a case of lets be mental for the sake of shock value. I just found it fking weird and not in a good way. I quite like the Japanese/Chinese martial arts films but this was just awful.

Dead in France 3/10
There is a YouTube clip but it doesn't say half about how dire this was.
Went to a mates house and we sat with his family trying to laugh off the continuous language, stupid violence, bonking and hammy story.
The off switch was at hand but we had to see it through and give it the benefit.
I guess it tries to pick threads of Tarantino or Richie but it fails miserably.
