Bad Films I watched this weekend
Discussion
'St Vincent' starring Bill Murray as a grumpy old fella. Tipped for an Oscar nomination but I thought it tedious. On general release from tonite but I suggest you don't fall over yourself to see it. 5/10 but a bit mushy and totally predictable.
The best part was BM singing 'Shelter from the Storm' over the closing credits but you can save your money and see that bit on YouTube.
Slightly spoilt by 'My Old Lady' which I saw last night, Maggie Smith and Kristen Scott Thomas ( who can do no wrong - sigh...).It got some poor Press reviews surprisingly. Funny in parts and a good night out. 7/10.
Looking forward to seeing 'West World' ( Yul Brynner ) a freebie in the cinema lounge on Sunday afternoon to restore a bit of proportion.

haven't seen that for a while, may have to dig it out This thread is about personal judgement. St Vincent = Bad / WestWorld = Far better + Good.

Just had the misfortune to sit through some of Battleship. Like the b*****d child of Independence Day & Transformers, with added CGI.
Just did the same thing. Oh dear!!Another one of these movies where you can't believe it's not better.
Just watched Interstellar.
Could have been a good film but half way through, the plot becomes so ridiculous it would be laughable had I not been in actual pain. The films too long so my neck was aching and the music score is deafening, it was so loud, my brain was vibrating.
Any film that relies on someone interpreting a second hand on a watch moving backwards and forwards to be a message from a presumed dead father, missing for over 23 years is really trying it on.

Hmm, I recorded Battleship - not worth watching then?
Only if you want to see Rihanna handbrake turn a 1940's Aircraft Carrier. If you like watching bits of military hardware do their thing (e.g the Phalanx CIWS anti-missile guns) it's for you.
It _was_ an amalgam of lots of other films, though, for sure.
The nerd on the hill was Jeff Goldblum from ID
The bit where someone got a telepathic image of what the aliens intended to do to Earth was equally straight out of ID.
The bit was where the Missouri was handbrake-turned was straight out of one of the Pirates of the Caribbean films
I can kind of see the Transformers similarity, but at least you didn't have the robots talking to each other in voices like they were desperate for the loo.
