Just rented and watched Lucy.
Utter ste.
I'm actually blown away by how poor it really was.

No substance whatsoever.
I quite like Scarlett Johansson for picking slightly off-beat films to act in, just wish she'd do some that are worth watching.

Interesting. I watched it with every expectation that it was going to be awful. I bloody loved it. Smartly scripted and good fun. Each to their own though! I found it unpretentious and charming. It didn't take it self seriously and was entertaining from start to end. And it looked great.

I watched it the other day but only because we were trying out our new 4K TV and the images were stunning. The movie was pretty poor but I wasn't expecting it to be a classic.
Worst 'I have a 4k TV' post ever However I am quite impressed sat here in front of my 100" projector screen

One of the few occasions I've decided to watch a film that I've never heard of without checking out review scores first. What a mistake.
Nicolas Cage has made some truly awful films in the last decade but I continue to hold out hope for another The Rock, Face/Off or Con Air.
This is not it.
Left Behind has not a single redeeming feature. A truly dreadful script, diabolical acting that wouldn't make it in a Nigerian daytime soap opera, a crap idea and the oddest soundtrack to go along with it.
Awful, awful, awful.
0/10.

Gone Baby Gone.
Another one of Ben Affleck's directing attempts, but this time he gets his brother in as the lead "star"
As a film, it's not that bad. It's pretty well shot, the dialogue is ok (apart from a couple of scenes where the main character thinks he is Muhammed I'm hard Bruce Lee when talking to people in a bar) and the story does draw you in.
It's just such an utterly depressing film, plot summary below:
Kid goes missing.
Mum doesn't give a toss as she is off her tits on drugs.
Auntie hires a private investigator (Affleck's brother).
P.I finds out that it was the useless mums brother & a high up police chap that runs a department that looks after kiddies that kidnapped the kid in order to give her a better life.
Bellend P.I can't understand that the kid is in a much better place so phones the police.
Kid goes back to mum who still doesn't give a toss about it, high up police chap & the mums brother go to prison, 2 other slightly iffy but for the right reasons police officers are killed and the P.I's girlfriend leaves him.
Just what you want to put you in a cheerful mood over the festive period
