I dunno how the film portrayed it...I turned the second one off after ten minutes due to the acrid stench of st pouring out of my telly and befouling my rug.
But in the book, the five armies are the races; Humans, Dwarves and Elves on one side (plus Beorn) and Orcs (Goblins) and Wargs on the other, plus bats.

Billy connolly riding into battle on a warpig at the end invalidates your argument. Until that point I'd be inclined to agree.

Crank 2, I can't begin to articulate how utterly awful it is, switched off about half way through.

bit harsh, I quite liked it no it's not great (how many films in that genre beyond GT and HB are?) but it is watchable and enjoyable
It was pretty crap to be honest. I did laugh at burnside's interrogation technique though.
Sounds great. I'll hunt it down

The Drop - with Tom Hardy, fell asleep before the end
biggrin I really liked this movie. It is very slow and takes time to build but then I like that sort of thing. My other half was expecting Goodfella's style guns, torture and exploding buildings wihing the first 5 minutes and this film doesn't do that much to her dismay.

Yep, I enjoyed it as well. A bit slow but well acted all round and certainly not a bad film.

Speaking of which, are there really 2 people who have suggested that The Aviator should be in this thread? What the fk is wrong with you people!

^This!

I quite enjoyed the first one, sure it was totally stupid but was quite fun, the sequel was just awful.

'Only God Forgives'. ste.

Same director and lead as 'Drive', and a similar film in many ways. However, whilst I rate 'Drive', this'un was weird, slow, dull, childish, pointless, silly, unrealistic, etc, etc.

Some of it felt like some kind of 6th form project film. 'I know, let's frame some long, drawn out shots though doorways, cos that'll be, like, well arty'.

bks. Avoid.

Oh I'd forgotten about this one. Truly awful and I quite liked Drive.

John Wick, Managed a full hour, then switched it off. Loads of people raving about this. Such a stupid, stupid film. Even takes itself pretty seriously too.
First few scenes are like ok midly entertaining, then it just goes on and on and on and on with the same body dropping nonsense. And the plot, its just laughable.

It's just awful, one of those films that is so unbelievably st that you have to watch it to the end in the hope that something exciting might happen - it doesn't

I was a bit disappointed with this one, the trailer looked like it was going to be great but it seemed to run out of steam quite quickly. It's a tiny independent film made for about $7 so I felt compelled to cut it some slack but it's not surprising they struggled to find a distributor for it.

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning

strangely not JCVD vehicle but he is properly part of it

Its more of a bloody violent horror film than an action flick, much blood and gore

Started well, but then went very very mad in the last 15 minutes

The Deer Hunter, it was on TV sunday. Never seen it before & no idea at all why anyone likes it or raves about it as some do. Unmitigated ste. Drunk annoying yanks for 2 1/2 hours with a bit of badly done war film inbetween. No characters or anything, just utter dross.

This was one of the first videos I ever rented way back in 1983! I too found it boring (I was only 16, though) and have never watched it again since.
