The Equalizer - Denzel Washington plays a vigilante figure. You really do not need to know any more than that to write the script yourself or imagine how it unfolds. He can't need the money, Shirley? 4/10
I quite enjoyed it, my only disappointment with it was the lack of the original theme tune

Taken 3

now I like a bit of 'brain out action' as much as the next person (quite probably more) but this asked for too much suspension of disbelief (and consider that I enjoyed watching Van Helsing!!)

American Justice - truly execrable, I'm honestly not sure if there's anything to recommend it 5% (and that's being generous and, believe it or not, I've seen worse!!!)

Mad Max: Fury Road

I'm all for brain-out action movies and know it's got good reviews, but just didn't hit-the-spot for me.

I'm not sure I approached this one right. My wife enjoyed it but I thought it was too silly with really crappy CGI and unbelievably bad acting from people who are normally superb. The main cast seemed entirely like fish out of water. SLJ's lisp was just daft, Colin is no James Bond, and Mark Strong's accent was distracting. And the main "kid" was someone I couldn't have cared less about.
Agreed, someone should have told the director that you can have too much swearing and that the implant scene with what looked like fireworks was never going to be anything but crap and look terrible. Totally predictable and could have been a really good film and the start of a good series.

Seems to be a real Marmite film this one. I really disliked it but so many seemed to think it was spectacular I'm convinced I must have seen a different film with the same title

I enjoyed it. Just a bit of silliness. Was plainly meant to be so. Why did you all come at it expecting something so serious; I mean, really - a gentleman's club of spies, with underground tunnels to stately houses?

I didn't expect it to be serious as it clearly wasn't from the trailers but it didn't have to be so badly done with the firework music to the implants exploding. If this had been left out and the language toned down I would have enjoyed it a lot more but these parts just took me out of the film rather than keeping me interested.

the thing is though that the language was (IMO) meant to be jarring, it was shown to play up the fact that the world the toffs grew up in was changing

we watch the bad films so you don't have to....

Tooken - a 'spoof' of Taken... some smileworthy moments but overall it's taken (no pun intended) aim at the Wayans brother's spoofs and fallen short

a lot of the peeps at work went to see it and said it was great.

I would imagine it would be a bit cheesy given it's a Rock film.

I think I'll wait for the BD,.

On reflection its far worse than 2012 as its got a lot less action and far too much schmaltz.

Ok it's not a really bad film but I have no idea how this has a 7.2 rating on IMDB. I generally like horror films (for example The Conjuring which is a really good film) but this is not even a decent film in that genre. Yes it has a reasonably creepy atmosphere to it but the storyline and acting are non-existent. The whole film just seemed like something parents would show their teenage daughters to stop them from having sex ..

I thought it was excellent, one of the best 'horrors' I've seen in years along with the Babadook

Watch this last night.
Huge fan of Denzel's films but this was awefull. Had the a great good and bad guy and potential was there but the plot,if there was one was very poor. I accept you can get the odd weak part to allow a plot to carry on. But this was so full off them you couldn't get any tension.

Have to agree with it being excellent. In a world of remakes and shaky hand cam/cctv films a complete breath of fresh air.

Perhaps you have to be in your late 30's and raised on 80's horrors to get it.
