Bad Films I watched this weekend

Oh I watched "the counselor" This weekend. Worst movie of 2013 for me, and I've seen a lot of them.
I had been looking forward to seeing this. How they managed to make something so utterly rubbish is beyond me.Started watching 'A Good Year' last night that I had recorded. Even worse.
The Lone Ranger - not the complete catastrophe that I was expecting but still a bit of a mess. Chief Jack Sparrow's routine is getting tiresome and he has no chemistry with the Ranger, who incidentally is utterly useless until the final 10 minutes. The tone is also all over the place, with kid friendly jokes getting mixed with a baddie who eats people's hearts and one part where they literally transition from a comedic cart chase to a load of people getting massacred by a gatling gun. Confusingly there are also several scenes with seemingly mystical or supernatural powers, despite being told quite clearly in the middle of the film that Tonto is making it all up and is just delusional. It's also far too long, with the older Tonto scenes in particular completely pointless.
That said, it looks gorgeous and the final scene is very well done. It's also very hard not to raise a smile once the iconic music starts playing as well.

A Good Day to Die Hard - put simply, this is not a Die Hard film. It's Bruce Willis' character from The Expendables running around with God Mode turned on. I know Die Hard films have always had massive stunts but the whole point was McClane was always the underdog who kept being in the wrong place at the wrong time and getting back up after having the crap beaten out of him. Here he travels to Russia to find his son (and for some reason the running gag is him shouting "I'm on vacation" when that is not the reason for his trip) and goes through countless injuries that would kill anyone with barely a scratch and also manages to walk around Chernobyl without any form of radiation suit.
The editing was also utterly awful and it wasn't clear what was even happening half the time. Where he jumps the G-Wagen is a great example - the bridge changes in every shot. Also, did anyone else notice that right afterwards he kills a number of innocent motorists by driving over them? What a hero!

I agree though, it's a long way from the charm of the first two installments. At least 4.0 was entertaining, if not nearly as good as the previous ones.

Probably against alot of people on here but:
Gravity 4/10- it should of been called "A Series of Unfortunate Events" the cinematics were great but thats where it finished for me.
I felt it was a bit blah as well.Gravity 4/10- it should of been called "A Series of Unfortunate Events" the cinematics were great but thats where it finished for me.
Aren't astronauts the toughest of the toughest?? That part where Bullock screamed every time George Clooney pulled her along by the rope was sooo irritating!. As if.

Watched The Lone Ranger last night (well....endured best describes it), but only lasted 2/3rds of the way before switching it off.
What were they thinking when they penned this tripe.
Lazy cash in on nostalgia and a variation on Depp's pirate persona. What were they thinking when they penned this tripe.
You did well to last 2/3rds. I think we got to around 30 mins and realised that we'd both spent 20 minutes of that catching up with stuff on our phones as the film was so unengaging.
