I can - it is proportional to the level of contempt people feel for them and this is their way of expressing it.
Hey I know not many of us on here use buses and view them (and their fancy yellow painted stops) as in the way but contempt is a little harsh laugh

Wow. Can't believe a thread about bus drivers wanting £500 has run to 8 pages.
Then no doubt you're also amazed that a small brown blotch of skin can sometimes run to months of chemotherapy. Importance isn't dependent on superficial appearances.

With the very real fear of sending the easily enraged over the edge it appears the Bus drivers won themselves another £577.

I wish someone would give me another 500 quid.

Do you know what pisses me off? They've had to cut the opening ceremony short because the fking tubes don't run late enough.

WHAT THE fk.

What's wrong with running them 24hrs for the duration of the Olympics, or at the very fking least, maybe, you know, extend the running time of the tube on the night of the ceremony???

I assume we have the reciprocal arrangement to pay them less at quiet periods such as weekends, holidays and so on?

No fking chance. They'll get reimbursed food expenses and the like if they're incurred, but any extra pay is highly unlikely. They'll be living in st condition for no extra money. This photo of troops filling in for G4S is currently doing the rounds on facebook. Like I said...st conditions.

More industrial action on the way?

Home Office strike could hit Olympics.

ITV News said:
Thousands of staff at the Home Office, including airport immigration workers, have voted to go on strike over jobs, pay and other issues, raising the threat of industrial action hitting the Olympics.

The Public and Commercial Services union said 57% of its members had backed a campaign of action in protest at cuts.

Union leaders will meet tomorrow to decide their next move, which could include a walkout at border controls at ports and airports, including Heathrow, as well as other forms of industrial action such as a ban on overtime.

They have extended the running hours, for the whole period. You can't run them for 24 hours a day though as those of us that fix the signalling/tracks etc quite like to do so without having to dodge trains every 3 minutes, or be standing on an electrified track wink

1 extra hour , on some of the network, just on the opening ceremony night would surely be feasible.

..oh I almost forgot .... the drivers are led by Bob Trotsky-Crow smile

It was originally planned to be 24hr running for the opening and closing ceremony and staff indeed expected it to be running ala newyears eve (existing staff agreements cover this so no union involvement) but the tube is under immense presure to keep things running for the WHOLE olympics so the powers that be decided to trade off later finishing and(hopeful) reliability against 24hr running and risking a breakdown.

You only have to look back at millenium eve on the Jubilee line to see what flak was received when too much was tried (too soon as well in the case of the Jubilee)

They are being extended by an hour. Look, I agree with you about the scumbag RMT but this is purely so we can fix the trains & track, it has nowt to do with Comrade Crow. On a normal night we have roughly 3 working hours available to fix & repair. That will include getting people & equipment into the tunnels and clearing the site afterwards. That doesn't leave us much time to fix anything. With the Olympic extension we've got even less.
