Perhaps you've got away with it then...

A better idea would be to ban history and then no one can be offended

So you think it has already happened (whether the BBC is to blame or not)?
No. I don't pretend to know what the lumpen proles think, or who they might support in the GE if they bother to even vote, but I suspect there are a fair few 'cross-benchers' choosing hanging and flogging on the one hand, whilst absorbing handouts with the other.

I do think the beeb is an echo chamber for 'progressive' types to promote their views.

As for bias in PH - so what? Who cares? Are they charging anyone for the service? Is it known for impartiality?

Ok so a whole day of stuff about refugees wasn't biased.

How about this little gem of a sitcom about the NHS from this am then?

Clearly neutral on the seven day day working thing...

How would people's lives be different if the BBC was entirely factual with no editorial/opinion/"bias" ?

Good question - ask the BBC Trust perhaps?

I didn't set the agenda - impartiality - they have to live up to it in return for billions of funding.

I'm quite happy for them to slant it any way they choose, but don't pretend to be impartial and wallet-rape the masses...

Why are you so concerned?

Is it REALLY screwing up your life?

Are that not FAR more serious issues that really warrant getting angry about?

If I really, really wanted to rant and rave and spew and froth about something I'm sure there are far more genuinely BAD issues that I would prefer to get all worked up about than the BBC.

Was I ranting?

Angry?

Sorry Eric, but I'm far from angry.

Back to the beeb though - I'll happily accept the bias if they lay off the criminal prosecutions and mandatory charges.

The licence fee is a fee to receive broadcast media. Most (almost all) western democracies levy a licence fee. Some are more expensive than ours, some are cheaper. None of them get a service as comprehansive as the BBC in return. Those who choose not to pay make themselves criminals.

But is the licence really such a big deal?

Are there not more injustices in the world of far greater import than this?

Wiki says Communications Act 2003 and Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984. Sounds criminal to me!

I'm not sure what your point is here Eric.. Of course there are greater injustices and tragedies in the world, but that does not preclude PHers from talking about BBC bias?
As far as I know, the best test of whether a topic is worthy of discussion or not is how many replies/pages it runs to. By that measure there are a few people on PH who want to talk about BBC bias.. You might think them silly to want to do so, but then again, you're taking part in the discussion as well....... hehe

If the point you are making is "so what if the BBC is biased??" then fair enough. You are allowed not to care. You are allowed to view those who do care with some disdain. But that does not make you right or wrong on the subject itself.

I never said I was right.

I just think there are more serious issues to get mad about - if you want to get mad about something.

No it isn't.

It's the whole package - holier than thou attitude, massive income, trendy lefty agit-prop agenda and lack of accountability.

But you knew that already.

List me one bit of "agit prop agenda" and then tell me how an unbiased BBC should present it.

You certainly sound angry and agitated.

I'd take HAL's advice, lie down and take a stress pill.
