A good one this afternoon in reaction to the Autumn statement.

Apparently the FTSE has 'tumbled' since PH delivered his speech. It's down 34 points.
it is still higher than it was yesterday.

Yesterday on R4 on a long driving day was pretty hard work.

Two programmes in a row about racism and racial identity (the latter being one of their week long series of essays on the upcoming Trumpmaggedon).

Womans Hour featuring a discussion on what men have been heroes and villains on women's issues in recent history (answer: all of them except a couple of grudgingly named Labour/Lib Dem politicians).

You and Yours phone in on how Brexit has made prices go up.

Afternoon play about a bunch of (nice, lovable) environmentalists trying to send letter bombs out and blow up a dam.

Environmental magazine show about the potential damage Trump is going to cause the environment.

Interspersed with the news programmes bleating on about Trump, Brexit and the NHS all day.

Honestly, you couldn't make it up.
Genuine question; Why listen to it?
I don't like music radio and I don't like sport.

And like a gambling junkie, I keep expecting the next day will be my lucky day when they get down off their soft-left high horse.

Nut they don't and won't. I stopped listening to radio 4 the day I got DAB radio in the car, I now listen to LBC or Talksport or even a bit of local radio. I'd rather play dodge the adverts than listen to R4 anymore.

My battered work car only has FM; local radio reception is crap in my neck of the woods, & can't bring myself to listen to the ginger wker on Radio 2, let alone the st that is Radio 4 yikes
So I plug my phone into the aux socket & listen to Google Play Music - Led Zepplin or Iron Maiden is I find quite relaxing for the commute....

This was making children re-write an age old fairy story and that's all it is a fairy story.
No, it is a method of Oppressing the woman child and pre assigning sexuality ....
Surely it's a tale of one women's principled stand against the ingrained prejudice of the patriarchal establishment, through the empowerment of economically sidelined under class to overthrow the cis-gendered hegemony and achieve equality and liberty (despite those awful Tory cuts)?

As it's that time of year, I'd strongly recommend a copy of Politically Correct Bedtime Stories. Used to be a work of fiction...

oh it's an advert on LBC that annoys the hell out of our household, for some software to plot whose on leave. As if a spreadsheet couldn't do the same thing for no outlay.

I'd guess it's a cloud app that allows multiple holiday allowances, requests/approvals, overtime, approval routes, etc probalby useful for companies with 10-500 people in multiple locations.
I doubt excel works that well for the above.

Sorry - hugely offtopic

BBC - blah, biased etc

Just watching Victoria Derbyshire and they seem to be getting their knickers in a twist over Philip Hammond smiling yesterday. What's he got to smile about was their outcry? Does it really matter?

Perhaps they were referring to his lopsided face & beak-like nose???
& why would you want to watch that rubbish anyway?

At least he adds "And it is not just down to Brexit....". Though it might be more accurate to say "despite Brexit".

If it turns out to be even remotely accurate, that is.

Well this is where people see bias where ever they wish, that was't a biased article by any stretch and as you say the lead in qualifies that its not just down to brevet, unless people really think that brevet won't affect the finances of the country? The article mentions Brexit twice and never mentions that the financial outlook is solely because of Brexit.

It may be a 'doom & gloom' story but it's not a biased one, IMHO.

It is all doom and gloom stories - even the good news is pre-fixed with "despite Brexit" . The bias is institutionalised and endemic and is part of the BBC paradigm.

Eh, it's all doomed gloom, yet you say even the good news stories, which is it?

People just see confirmation bias in whatever they want.
