John Humphries on the Today programme met his match in Bernard Hogan Howe. Humphries kept interrupting BHH every time his answer didn't match Humphries agenda, BHH told Humphries not to interrupt every single sentence and insisted on answering the question. Actually managed to give a detailed answer to Humphries obvious fury. Humphries asked the question again and this time interrupted immediately. 'You've interrupted me after three words this time' responded BHH.

I am not a fan of BHH, but that is definitely the only way to deal with JH.

Do you remember (roughly) what time that this happened?

John Humphries is becoming painful to listen to. Whenever they have a "heavyweight" interview in the 8:10 slot on Today, you can almost sense the guy girding his loins, psyching up to make his point regardless of what the interviewee says. He pales into insignificance alongside Sarah Montague in the irritation stakes, however.

I'm listening to it at the moment.]]BHH is acquiting himself very well indeed.

I wonder if Humphries is reaching the age where he should consider retiring?

Used to live in our village. Possibly one of the most egotistical characters on the planet. Enjoy it immensely when he has his arse handed to him.

Bit like Dimbledum on QT. Glasses on the tip of your nose, and a silly tie will only go so far. He is no Robin Day.

JH remains Michael Burke's wet dream, as he only got to the moral maze, where again, he is way out of his depth intellectually.

I think that all these doom and gloom stories from the BBC have the words could ,might , maybe it'll happen in them says it all. Clutching at straws. When they actually post something with a fact in it I'll take notice. I suppose they might eventually do that in fact they could be doing it now but maybe they won't.

Very Tom Jones for Snow (it's not unusual). At least he's not feeding from the licence teat in the manner of the BBC and has no Charter requiring impartiality, merely his (lack of) standards in this instance.

Why the hell has the BBC employed that American woman with the really annoying accent...?

Syria...Area

Seeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr eeeee a....Airrrrrrrrrrr eeeeeee a

Makes me want to stab my ears with a biro.
So it's not just me then. She's actually Canadian I believe. Lyse Doucet. When she says Syria it sounds like a cat sliding down a slate blackboard with its claws out. Makes my teeth itch. Like most people, I wish the war in Syria would end, but in my case it's so I don't have to hear her say Syria one more time. I just hope war doesn't then break out in Mozambique.
The BBC have about three women foreign correspondents they love sending to a middle east war zone to sympathise with the underdog side, who all sound like an Irish woman being strangled.

The one you named, plus Barbara Plett Usher and Orla Guerin.

I can't listen to any of the, I just turn the radio off.

Their accents are completely fake.

I have an Irish accent that is "non-regional", but they drive me mad.

I think that there must be a school somewhere in Ireland where they are taught to speak like that.

Note...the Beeb will never put Jon Snow or Neil Sleat on the weather...

There's a riot going on in a Birmingham prison. Guess what, the BBC's radio coverage is extremely keen to point out it's run by G4S, a private company...

Because that's what's relevant here.

First sentence from the BBC story:-

BBC said:
Trouble flared at privately-run HMP Birmingham after a prison officer was "rushed" by inmates.
They haven't an ounce of shame.
